About this listen

Margerie Croft yielded up her virginity before her wedding and then fled from her eager suitor, knowing that she could not marry a man she did not love. Now she is viewed as soiled goods, fit only for the role of courtier's plaything.

Virgil Elton is King Henry VIII's physician, working on a tonic to restore his sovereign's flagging libido. But first it must be tested. Who better, then, than the wanton Margerie Croft? But as he gets to know her, Virgil discovers someone as intelligent and passionate as she is beautiful - someone who has been gravely misunderstood. For her part, Margerie finds Virgil irresistible - with or without the help of his special medicine. But she knows she could never make a respectable wife for Virgil. And yet, despite herself, Margerie can't help but wonder....

This narrator...

The story isn’t too bad. Like the Rebel Bride, a good deal of this story is entwined with the previous ones. The narrator left a lot to be desired. I liked the second books narrator a little more because she gave a bit more color to the language she spoke. This one is the narrator from the first and no one told her to do anything different. And the first was hard to get through because of her style of reading. Seems like she’s just reading for the sake of it with some attempts of bringing characters to life. Her cadence and how she says words are off putting at times. For the sake of just wanting to finish the series I’m getting through it but just wish that maybe the second narrator finished the series if I had to choose the better of the two.

VERY NAIVE YOUNG WOMAN

First the narrator didn't perform she just read the story and that was most time the narrator just read. To me story was really about lust and sex and if that was the writer intention she hit it on the mark. Marjorie aloud vigil believe that she was a whore and instead just telling him the truth.

This was an excellent King Tudor Romance!

I enjoyed the 1st book so much, Rebel Bride, that I had to listen to this one! This story is a favorite of mine. I love King Tudor era romance. This story was a beautiful and steamy romance in a dangerous time of King Tudor beheading his wives accused falsely. Mistress Margery is rumored to be a loose woman, and she falls in love with the sexy Kings doctor! Loved Master Virgil! He is a serious man, but let's his defenses when it comes to Mistress Margery. I enjoyed the details and the narrative. I love the storyline and intrigue Ms. Moss includes in detailed and rich in history sizzling romance.
I would highly recommended this book! I love the Narator.
Sex, love, and drama all in a excellent love story!

stilted reading was a bummer

I liked the story and how it built on the last 2, but the reading is not good, particularly when depicting male speech. There's a line toward the end of the book that may explain the decision to read that way, but it was not the right decision.
