Publisher's summary

Vampire bachelor Samson can't get it up anymore. Not even his shrink can help him. That changes when the lovely mortal auditor Delilah tumbles into his arms after a seemingly random attack. Suddenly there's nothing wrong with his hydraulics - that is, as long as Delilah is the woman in his arms.

His scruples about taking Delilah to bed vanish when his shrink suggests it's the only way to cure his problem. Thinking all he needs is one night with her, Samson indulges in a night of pleasure and passion.

However, another attack on Delilah and a dead body later, and Samson has his hands full: not only with trying to hide the fact he's a vampire, but also with finding out what secrets Delilah harbors for somebody to want her harm.

Sexy and Fun!

Ok, so I have no idea why I haven’t heard of Tina Folsom or the Scanguards Vampire series before? I must have been living under a rock? Thanks to some wonderful Audible listeners I follow, I decided to give this one a try. Wow! The Publisher’s Summary sounded great as well…a vampire with ED. Now that’s funny.

From the very first sentence of this book, I knew I was hooked. (wink, wink) This had just the right blend of humor, sex, mystery, romance and erotic. I really enjoyed this listen and plan to get the others in the series as well.

4.5 stars!

Blah Blah Blah

This book is just ok. Maybe if the narrator was better it would have been a better listen. I could hardly make myself sit through it.

Ok

With a plot line heavy on sex and light on intellect or plot, the author needs to really pull you into the story with sexual tension. You have to really buy into the chemistry between the 2 main characters.

Sadly, I never got caught up in the relationship. They author kept telling us about these intense feelings they had for each other and I never felt any of it! (Think any of the "Species" series by Laurann Dohner. Yes eye rolling at times but you gotta admit, they definitely have chemistry and make you a little Hot!)

Disappointing! I would not recommend even if it is cheap. There are a lot better romance/steamy books out there!

Tsk, Tsk...

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was but it definitely took some getting used to. This is primarily because of the crude language. And I mean I cuss all of the time but there were a few things that had me looking at my Iphone with the side eye. I mean I had to go back and read the summary again like am I listening to porn or what? lol

If you’ve listened to books by Tina Folsom before, how does this one compare?

I have not.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Um yeah. Kevin Foley didn't miss a beat.

Could you see Samson's Lovely Mortal being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Well if it was a tv series I'm not sure what channel it would be on....well probably HBO. It was a good question of who the stars would be but I can't think of any at the moment.

Any additional comments?

Well it wasn't my favorite. It was a decent read but I can only recommend this if it is on sale.

Decent story, wrong narrator

OK, the first 30 seconds almost killed it for me, but I gave the story a chance, and I ended up actually liking it. The narrator's voice is SO Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, that it made me laugh during sex scenes when (in my warped mind) whatever he was saying became something like, "The strength of the cheetah's sinewy thighs are proven essential when it's time to mount his mate ...." The female voice he does is what a guy making fun of women might sound like. In fairness, I blame the publisher, not Mr. Foley, for this mess. He has a great voice, just not for this type of book. I have no doubt that he is FABULOUS in more of a documentary or educational type of book and I sincerely hope that this was his one experiment with female voices and romance and that he has decided against doing so again.....EVER

In spite of that, if you see it on sale, the story itself is actually is an interesting one. I even found myself listening a second time, but I can understand those who gave up early. In cases like these, I try to pretend a well-meaning relative is reading at my sick bed and run the narration through my the-way-it should-sound filter and deal.

Sorry to say it is not worth a credit unless re-recorded with a new reader, but I kind of hope they do just that and release the next books in this Scanguards series because I'd like to know what happens next.

The book was OK but...

Any additional comments?

Narrated by Kevin Foley I liked his voice but he was so ho hum when reading the book. I didn't feel anything from his reading. In the action or in the love making part. And I have read other books on this subject that made it feel real. But this one was to low key. Maybe in a couple years I will listen to it again.

Burning up the Vampire world

Samson is awesome. I've read the book and the download of the audio rocked and was as burning hot as the book. Kevin Foley knocked one out of the park! Thank you Tina & Kevin!
