About this listen

Dr. Trisha Norbit is flat on her back in a hospital bed, pinned under a really big New Species male. Though drugged out of his mind, he promises her ecstasy and is determined to deliver - but hospital staff intervenes. 215 is a man Trisha will never forget. But, when she meets him again at Homeland... he doesn’t even remember her!

The nosy new doctor wants to know all about the breeding habits between humans and Species. Slade proposes a hands-on education but she’s not interested in a one-night stand. He can’t offer more because he’s haunted by the memory of a woman he once tried to claim. He’s shocked when he realizes they are one and the same. He's blown it - she’ll never give him a chance now.

But, when her life is in danger, he’s the only one who can save her. As they flee through the wilderness, their desire ignites and cannot be denied. Hot sex, on the run, has consequences that are even more dangerous and will change their lives forever.

Reader Advisory: There is a scene of an attempted rape.

Editorial reviews

This "New Species" erotic romance by best-selling author Laurann Dohner features Trisha Norbit, a self-assured, smart-beyond-her-years doctor. Aroused to the brink by a patient whose life she saves, she changes the entire course of her life as a victim of her own lust only to survive life-on-the-run as the object of love for a wayward pharmaceutical company’s experiment that resulted in someone mostly man, but part animal as well. Vanessa Chambers, by turns stern, humorous, and passionate, narrates a tale of yearning for the "forbidden fruit" that once ignited is almost impossible to contain.

Love the New Species series

Any additional comments?

I love the New Species series. I was very happy when I saw they were coming to Audible. I just wish they had used a better narrator. She's okay on the female characters, but not so much on the male ones.

Same Plot but entertaining

I love listening to these books; however, I agree that it’s the same plot as the other books. Lots of hilarious parts in book that made me laugh. Would be nice to have more variety in remaining books in this series.

Narrator is okay but not one of my favourites

Narrator is okay but not one of my favourites as the characters do not sound like I have envisioned. Her voices all seem similar and not deep and gruff like I think they do. There is also a name mistake in the last chapter. The narrator says Breeze instead of Brass. Slade’s stupidity really does come across more in audible. I really loved the humour between Trisha and Brass, Moon and Harley, so fun. BOOK REVIEW My review is no longer a verified one as I have the older published version of this book. Boy hasn’t Slade made of mess of the situation with Dr Trisha, and not just once. Dr Trisha Norbit first meets Slade when he is bought into a public hospital injured after being saved from Mercile Industries during the raids. A year later Trisha is working for the New Species at Homeland as the resident doctor. Trouble is Slade does not remember her as that doctor due to her different hair colour. Slade just keeps getting it wrong even after saving Trisha’s life when they are attacked by idiot human hunters and stranded in the wilds. What follows is a very good read in this crazy new world Ms Dohner has created. The way these New Species appreciate every little thing around them after being raised in cells, labs and the abuse they have suffered, just makes me want to hug them all. I have reread these books numerous times and still love them completely each and every time I read one. I have reviewed them previously but there has been a problem with reviews disappearing. I understand how important reviews are for authors and as it is no hardship to read them once again, I am writing reviews as I work through the series.

Story steasl the show narration comes in second

OH MY . . . I want so much more than is contained within these pages. Dohner most certainly delivers and leaves one wanting. Slade and Dr. Trisha have an adventurous meeting and then find their mutual attraction again after circumstance brings them back together again. This one a ride on the side of danger, fear, loss, and more danger.

I revisit this series a few times a year. Fury is still my favorite.

3.5 Stars Slow start But Picks up

I ave listened to many of LD's books including the Cyborg series. I listened to Fury and thought I had to listen this book. It was a bit of a shock to discover there are book 13 books in a series which had somehow eluded me, it was recommended that they be read in order so I'm slowly working my way through them.
'Fury' was interesting and intriguing and I wasn't surprised that this was such a long series since the possibilities seem endless.
I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with this book, no, let me correct that I was disappointed with the first half of this book, for me personally they spent far too long in the woods but the second half was wonderful, I love every new character that gets introduced and can't wait to get to their books. Slade annoyed the hell out of me at times but of course I grew to love him by the end.
I'd rate the first half of this book 2 stars and the second half 5 so I'm settling on 3.5 and now I'm on to Valiant.

I felt that Vanessa Chambers did a pretty good job with the delivery of the story but not nearly as good as Mindy Kennedy in the Cyborg series.

I love this series.

I as such a big fan. Slade and Trisha are great together. ( once they get over their misunderstandings). It can be frustrating but you just have to remember that they think so differently. I also love the whole world that they have built. I can’t wait for more.

THIS WAS QUITE A SURPRISE !!

If you could sum up Slade in three words, what would they be?

Arrogant, sexy, hot-tempered

What was one of the most memorable moments of Slade?

Slade is an arrogant, sexy, hot-tempered and somewhat shallow male; however, I guess there has to be one in every crowd and I still couldn't help really liking him. Poor Dr. Norbitt.

What about Vanessa Chambers’s performance did you like?

I think she narrated this book better than the first and think she will only get better and better.

Any additional comments?

This book was not as good as #1 but still exciting and opens up the gateway to newly introduced characters and plots.

I didn't like that this was a "cliffhanger" but understand the reasoning.

HOT AND SEXY SLADE!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes becasue it one of the best PR I have read. fast paced Hot Sensual Sex Scene strong heroine and hero great story!!!

What other book might you compare Slade to and why?

The GhostWalker series by Christine Feehan. This series is about genetically engineered military soldiers that where give animal DNA. GW's is the Older series than New Species but it is better and Is my all time Favorite series!!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator isn't very good with male voices and all her character voices sound the same.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I Laughed and Cried their are some great funny moments and than their is an attempt rape on the heroine which caused me to want to cry. i hate attempted rape scenes as much as I hate rape scenes.

Any additional comments?

Slade is a great story fasted paced, great characters and hot sex scenes!!
