This is definitely different from what I was thinking it was going to be, but I did enjoy it. It's a hot, quick read. In my case, listen as I got it on audio. Can't wait for the next one in the series. Especially on audio as I enjoyed the narration.

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Vivian Murdoch. It is a secret society, bdsm newbie storyline that had great characters. I think the darkness comes from being forced into society living as well as pain play. Not as dark as some, but definitely would lift eyebrows in normal, everyday society! It was a slow burn in the relationship area although there is steam throughout. I'm looking forward to the next book, as one of my least favorite characters will get her story told. Maybe I'll change my mind about her?

Logan Anare and Marie Hawkins are excellent narrators. I got lost in the audiobook as it rolled like a movie in my head. Logan is a favorite narrator of mine. I really enjoy his performances. I can see Marie becoming a favorite too. This was the first time I've listened to her and it was perfection in the different voices and emotions. Both have easy to listen to voices. Perfection from them both!!

I love secret society stories, especially when they are mixed with dark romance. While this wasn't as dark as it could have been, I really enjoyed this story and think it's a nice beginning to the Lofty University Playthings series. Poor Melody found herself in a rather precarious situation that took her way out of her comfort zone. It was intriguing, tantalizing and forbidden. This is a complete standalone, although we got a preview into the next book which is Chelsea's story. I am looking forward to listening to that as well as the rest of the series. Logan Anare and Marie Hawkins both did a great job bringing this story to life.

I will be upfront and say this isn’t my normal cup of tea. My brain could not wrap around the fact a university would indoctrinate girls into this dark ‘romance’ cult.
But if you want lots of intense, ummm…”intimacy,” you got it! Better prepare to fan yourself because you may end up hot for teacher. Or should I say professor.
I will admit that the two main characters are very well-composed and distinctive. You get to learn their quirks (character traits; mind out of the gutter!) fairly quickly, like our fair innocent maiden’s drive to work hard on her studies and her adore, easy blush. Or Professor Richard’s manipulation ways and how he yells the f bomb to himself when he shows even the slightest bit of care.
I will say the vocal performances were spectacular! Mr. Logan Anare is my favorite male narrator and man; he brings the gruff toned, cool headed, egocentric, and later conflicted hues that make up Professor Richard flawlessly. Miss Hawkins does a grand job of being our darling little mouse whose word is turned upside down due to a trap and takes on the fear, confusion, and poise of the cult and intimate scenes well.
Highly recommend this I’m audiobook form if you are prepared to attend this unique school.

Okay, this book was okay, to be honest, I was expecting a bit more from this book. I liked it but didn't love it. 😕 the narrator did a good job though.

This is the first book in the Loftry University Playings series. This is one of the most unique secret BDSM society. It involves the facility of the university and their submissives become part of a sorority. Melody was a straight A student and valedictorian in High School. She was on a scholarship. This college is a lot harder then she imagined. One decision could have lost her scholarship. Instead she is given the choice to join the sorority. Marie Hawkins and Logan Anare did a great job narrating this book.
