Publisher's summary

Penelope Hunt is well on her way to becoming a spinster. When Colin Worthing courted her secretly for an entire season before making off with her virginity, he ensured that she could never make a good match ...or put the pieces of her broken heart back together again. His duplicity has her convinced that men are not to be trusted, and that she would be foolish to bind herself in marriage to one for the rest of her life. Deciding that life as a spinster has its benefits, she vows to avoid matrimony and enjoy her life in any way that she can - the inheritance to be had on her 25th birthday will see her endowed to do just that.

When the commissioned officer returns home years later, much older and wiser than the young rake who ruined her, he wants nothing more than to put his past behind him and make amends for his treatment of Penelope by marrying her. Setting out to woo her and convince her he's changed, he never expects competition in the form of his best friend, Edmond Ingham.

With both men out to steal her heart, a jaded Penelope begins a game of intrigues and passion - one that the members of the ton would be shocked to know she indulged in. But what does it matter when men have been breaking hearts since the dawn of time? Perhaps, the two men deserve to have their hearts played with.

And, perhaps, in two very different men, she will find that the love she thought couldn't exist for two might just be possible with three.

Holy Maccaroni! This was on a whole 'nother level!

Look - I can't lie, this took me through a loop. If you're a reader of Garwood, Lindsey, Quick, Devereaux (etc.) this plot would NEVER work; but somehow Vale made this work. I do feel Vale should have revealed the affair between the h and H2 to H1 sooner - to have more time to build up to the eventual acceptance of H1 (even allow him a revenge hookup) and the plan that followed (for the sake of credibility) but other than that, I was still hooked. It's a good story.

Beatrice didn't help the credibility factor, you could hear her smirk as she narrated (she needed to leave the smirk to the listener) but she wasn't bad either. Overall, if you're reading the series it's a good addition. **This is the first book I'm reading in the series, so I've got to go back before forging ahead. **

Shock value alone it stands at 4.5 stars. 🤪🏅

Sexy and daring!

I loved it! Lady Penelope is a very lucky Lady! She gets 2 gorgeous men! I love Ms. Vale books. The power and independence she gives her beautiful heroines ♡ This is my 3rd book, and not my last! All her books have a story to tell and Ms. Vale always has a steamy and gifted way of writing her magic.
I liked the Narrator, she is not a favorite of mine.
I recommend strongly Ms. Vale's Books ♡

Could’ve been better

The narration could use some work and the story could’ve been better. I felt sorry for Colin and thought Ed was a horrible friend. Penelope was stupid. The very end of the book finally brought them together in the way I had been anticipating throughout the whole book but felt so rushed. The author could’ve given more to this scene. I listened to this for the steam and there was a good amount of it.

An entertaining story

Oh yes! It is a HOT story but that isn't all. It was easy to connect with the characters and how their previous behaviour affected their outlook. Two handsome men and one determined lady made for a great storyline. It was difficult to guess which one Penelope would choose,Colin or Edmond. Kept me wondering until the end. It was interesting to find out about the characters background and how that had affected their actions.
The narrator used different voices to bring the characters to life. I was gifted a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest review.

Brilliant, tempting and delicious

Mistress Vale has done it again! Tempting Two, where we are introduced to Colin and Edmund and Penny - how to chose one when her heart belongs to both men? It becomes a journey of love, choice and acceptance.

The narrator is a well known friend by now from earlier works of Mistress Vale’s including “The Masquerade”

Another masterpiece which made me love both men equally, so tempting and utterly delicious 😋

Good regency ménage

But the narrator sounded like she was holding her nose throughout the book. I ended up skipping towards the end. I couldn’t listen to that nasal tone any longer.
Great story and plot otherwise.

I can’t even listen

I wanted to hear this story but the voice of the narrator is super annoying.

At least a good story wasn’t ruined by a bad narrator.

Both were awful. A great deal of clichéd and trite writing read in a bad English accent.

Couldn’t get through it

I could not listen to the narrator. I skipped around to see if the narration got any better but it didn’t. Boring and annoying. I may try reading the book instead. Or perhaps try another of the author’s Audibles with another narrator.
