About this listen

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of the This Man series comes a "brave, cutting-edge romance" (Library Journal) that begs the question: What would you do if you fell in love with someone you can't have?

Annie has never experienced the "spark" with a guy - the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise. Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily, must be dangerous. But she's already in too deep. And Jack isn't only dangerous. He is forbidden.

Loved, loved, loved

Well written with two characters that were meant to be together. I do not condone cheating, but sometimes as humans we make mistakes. In Jack’s case, he married an abusive psychopath. No one should have to live with emotional and physical abuse. He and Annie were perfect together.

Nailed it

As always Jodi Ellen Malpas takes a story, builds amazing characters and rocks it hard core. There is nothing she has written that I have not devoured. She is a true goddess and this book is proof of just how talented a story teller she is.

Disappointed

I couldn't wait for this book and then I was let down by the narrator's voice she sounded so childish and girly , I liked the premise of the story even if it was sooo predictable. There was even parts that reminded me of 'this man trilogy' (loved being on central cloud 9). But this was boring. I still love Jody Ellen so keep writing

Mixed Emotions

What did you love best about The Forbidden?

The writing, Jodi Ellen Malpas did a great job as she always does.

What other book might you compare The Forbidden to and why?

Not sure...I can't really think of any.

What does Julie Garthan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a great job narrating the book. And did a great job with the voices of the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no as I had mixed emotions on the book.

Any additional comments?

This book deals with infidelity. You understand why as you go along with the book but still I battled my feelings on loving the hero and heroine.

Wow

So I can officially say I love everything Jodi Ellen Maples weights.
This is definitely a Taboo story and I loved it.
The forbidden is just so good you'll get mad and you'll feel sorry and then you'll get mad again you may even cry, I did. but when you finish this book you'll love it. I just wish we got and An epilog that would have made it a 5 star for me. still I loved this book and I did not think that was going to happen. so to recap this book is going to kick you ass and your going to love it. .
happy reading.

Love the story, but..

Jodi Ellen always does a great job with her writing and characters. This particular storyline is realistic and I appreciate her tackling this "Forbidden" topic. The only reason I only give four stars is because of the following.
Why do all the heroines, at some point, lose control of bodily function and can't move their legs or speak. It's either they're so enamored with a man they've just met or because some dangerous or traumatic event. Please give your female characters a bit more gumption, or is that the way British women actually respond to unexpected, emergencies or dangerous events. Whatever happened to Fight or Flight,? Is that not a thing in Britain? Anyway, I do enjoy the books and the way they allow you to become apart of a different life.

Love in its rawest, truest form

This was a re-read for me, first time in audio. And I enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. It’s easy to judge and I found myself doing just that as I re-read the book. It’s also easy to see how love can rule not just the heart but the mind. Would you do just about anything for love, even if it’s out of character and something you never believed you were capable of. It’s not an easy question to answer and a very personal one at that. But The Forbidden was simply love in its rawest, truest form.

Jodi Ellen Malpas does it again

The Forbidden is another winner of a book. The story between Annie Ryan and Jack Joseph is another beautiful love story written by JEM. I didn't want the story to end. A forbidden love that should never have been or should it? We can't help who we fall in love with and Annie and Jack's story is a prime example of this. A chance encounter in a bar leads to a leads to something both Jack and Annie never expected. This is an outstanding book that is brought to life by an exceptional narrator. I can't wait for JEM''s next release. It seems everything JEM writes turns to gold. I have read or listened to all her books and like the others, this one left me wanting more.
