About this listen

Till death do us part.

My father married me off to one of the most powerful men in Italy. Maverick DeVille. But I call him the wolf. He calls me his sheep.

The arranged marriage was detested by us both, but we had to make sacrifices for the right reasons. He needed to avenge his mother, and I needed protection from the mobs that want to torture me.

He's not what I pictured for my husband. He's ruthless, calloused, and cold. His walls are higher than mine. He possesses cruelty that makes him feared. But it doesn't take long for me to respect him...even like him.

I rely on my husband more than anyone else in the world. He provides for me, protects me, and chases away all my fears. He lets me graze in the meadow without a care in the world. Because, the wolf is always watching.

I hated this marriage in the beginning, but now, I realize how lucky I am. How lucky I am to be the sheep the wolf protects...and doesn't eat.

When people look in the darkness, they see shadows. I see monsters. And I kill the monsters that hunt my sheep.

Once again, Penelope Sky has written an enthralling story! Once again, Michael Ferraiuolo and Lia Langola complimented each other beautifully. I love stories about strangers begin to get to know one another, and how love and protection begin to solidify their relationship, unbeknownst to them. I have been waiting eagerly for the next installment. I own all of Penelope’s books, Audible and Kindle. I prefer Audible because I love Ferraiuolo’s voice.

I have books in my library that I listen to again occasionally and those that I listen to again frequently. Non of them have ever caused me to take the time and write a review, positive or negative. This book captured me from beginning to end. The story line spoke to me and caused all the feels. I am caught and and carried away and on my way to book two! Definitely worth the credit!

Overall the trilogy was a great story. Maverick and his father, strong characters. But Arwin’s character - just too much!! Talked too much, repeated herself too much, just wouldn’t shut up!!! She could have taken a back seat from the second book!

Great but Over the Top

This book grabs you at the first and doesn’t let you go. Can’t wait to read the second in the series.

If I didn’t have to work, I would have listened to this one straight through! Complex and characters and richness and detail to this tale.

Penelope Sky knocks it out of the park again!

I love Penelope Sky stories and I couldn’t wait to start this trilogy once they were all out.. and WOW what a rollercoaster ride this was as a bitter arranged marriage very slowly turns into undying devoted love. Arwen’s father was dying and he’d also lost all his money to a psychopath criminal.. so, to keep his daughter safe from his enemy, he made a deal and married her off to Satan’s son. Because Maverick was a ruthless, cold, heartless, womanizing monstrous anti-hero from a crime family. .. a shameless wolf who made a promise to protect Arwen - a promise he never broke. However, he didn’t promise to be faithful, kind, thoughtful or nice!! And, right from the start, their marriage was anything but a conventional happy one with mega resistance and mutual dislike flowing from every encounter. But, through the tentative ups and toxic downs.. through the fiery passion and the endless pitfalls.. through the various lovers that came and went on both sides.. through the negative disruptions and the imminent dangers.. through the emotional push n pull to their unwanted marriage and through the sizzling chemistry.. there was fireworks, feisty flare ups, fan-worthy sexy times and feels feels feels.

This doesn’t unravel like the ‘usual’ arranged/forced marriage plot because, right from the start, these two characters REALLY didn’t like each other and weren’t going to compromise at all. But this talented author takes you on a unique twisted slow-building journey of attraction, character growth, awakening, understanding, forgiveness, redemption and love. The anti-hero was handsome, powerful, and sexy.. but initially very hard to like. The beautiful Opera singer heroine was strong yet vulnerable, courageous yet naive and unfortunately too trusting. The villains are dark and deadly, the passion and pleasures sparked and sizzled, the romance was touching and heartfelt, the heartbreak was brutal and the HEA was a joy to behold.

Worth a credit? Well, with this dual POV trilogy were really talking about three.. and yes, each and every one of the expertly narrated books (for me) was definitely creditworthy.

A COMPLEX, ALL-CONSUMING, GRITTY & GRAND START

This is the 3rd series of Sky I’ve read (in a row) and I really liked it, just sad it’s shorter. It’s not a dark romance, so maybe I needed the love story after reading some of Sky’s darker material. I haven’t read all of her series, but I didn’t find this series to be like any of the others (again, possibly because Sky can get very dark). Even though I’ve read 3 of her series back to back I haven’t yet bored of her writing and ready to launch into another one.

Series Review: 💯 satisfying read!

Wow! I really love this story and can’t wait to listen to the next one. The performance was excellent too. Both narrators did a good job. They aren’t new to me and won’t be my last. Their voices compliment each other well. this is not your typical love story or romance. I don't really care open relationship or cheating but the author made it work for this one. I couldn't stop listening. l Highly recommend!

Okay this is actually good. I didn't think Penelope Sky could take it there, but she really did. I was in a slump, but this was such a great listen. I just really enjoyed the characters and the dialogue between them, mainly because it didn't seem so cheesy and rom-com like. This was a story you could get into from start to finish. They actually took some fair time developing the characters in a concise way, not ALL day. The author did a great job telling this story without the need for hours and hours of unessesary build up. I actually couldn't put it down and read the whole thing in one sitting. I sure don't regret it either, the only thing I regret is that book 2 and 3 arn't out yet. I want now.

I can't believe how good this is
