Story
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Did not blow me away
Reviewed: 11-04-23
Totally get the need for character growth and some training, but dedicating the whole book to what felt like a never-ending training session? That's just too much. Parts that should've been quick were dragged out with way too many details, and when they finally got to the fights, they barely showcased those new skills they spent ages on. I'm a fan of Rai, but man, I was hoping to hear more about the war, dive deeper into his family's background, get some insight into the mind stuff, and find out more about Central. Instead, a huge chunk of the book was about this competition, which really only made sense at the very end when they wanted to power up the main character. Hey author, next time, how about giving us a solid, engaging story with some real depth? Not something that feels like a teen drama minus the fun music. Honestly, if the next book gets back to the good stuff like the first one did, you could probably skip this middle one and not miss a thing.

Story
The Moonlight Relic sits high atop the Western Reaches, an ancient fortress against invasion from beyond. An age ago, its enchantments were designed to stabilize the dimensions and defend those who lived there, as well as to be a model for other relics of the same type. Not long after it was built, it was shattered in a cataclysmic war.

Still a great story

I've gotta say, the way the characters develop in this book is pretty darn impressive. The author really dives deep into their backgrounds, especially the dad's, which adds a whole other layer to the story. It's like you're getting to know these folks for real.
Now, let's talk action. This book's got it all: crafting, fights, and some top-notch world-building. It's basically my recipe for a great read. You get sucked into this world they've built, and it's a wild ride from start to finish. No dull moments, I promise.
And here's a cool thing – the author doesn't leave you hanging at the end of every chapter. You know how some writers just love those cliffhangers? Not here. They're all about making you care about the characters and the world they live in. It's a slow burn that pays off big time.
Oh, and by the way, I'm a Patreon supporter, so I'm in the know about where the next books are headed. But here's the kicker – it doesn't ruin the audiobook experience one bit. Speaking of which, the new narrators totally nailed it. You know how cringy it can be when narrators try to do kids and teens? Well, these folks aced it. It adds a whole new layer to the audiobook.
So, to sum it up, this book is a winner in my book. The character depth, the backstories, the action, and the world-building are all on point. And the audiobook? Well, it's a treat for your ears. If you're into immersive storytelling, you definitely want to check this one out. It's a real gem.

MC's the worst kind of wasted potential in a novel
Reviewed: 07-26-23
The book offers a laid-back and engaging narrative, though I personally won't be continuing with the series. The main character comes across as a naive and lost individual, constantly seeking validation from those who show him even the slightest kindness. It's as if he's a puppy desperate for attention. As the story unfolds, he might even end up being sold, and his eagerness to please his sellers will leave you feeling queasy. I find it difficult to connect with characters who lack resilience and assertiveness. The book was received for free from Aethon in exchange for a review, and if you enjoy tales of characters navigating their way with slice of life vibes, you might enjoy it.

Story
Gabe Skelter has a temper, which he likes to imagine has the effect of causing people to fear and respect him. On the contrary, his pudgy, underdeveloped body and negative personality make him more your standard outcast teenager. Worse still, he kinda knows what a jerkweed he actually is. Then, in the middle of a class trip, Gabe finds himself spirited away to Regaia: a world of magic, mayhem, and nerd-tastic adventure. Naturally, he’s completely ill-prepared. But in this realm, he’s a monstrous, muscular man of action.

The low stars are deserved

This MC is the most stupidly moronic dimwitted foul-mouthed imbecile. I am speaking honestly. Those were not insults; that is the character's description.
He lacked any kind of discipline, and he would have been killed by other people because he's so annoying that I don't believe no has wanted to or tried to kill him. He just is completely murder friendly, and someone killed him the people around him would be better for it. He's that poisonous to everyone, especially those that try to help him. he doesn't get better and I made it 8 hrs...
I love cursing but shit, the incessant unnecessary cursing. Like a toddler that just heard the word and repeats it for like 8 hrs straight...
The plot armor is also thicker than the universe...No shame to the people that rated it higher but I think these might be people that have followed from before the author got published on Amazon/Audible.
if the different bad parts were by themselves I could have continued but together they make the book a solid 2 stars, only because the world building is great and the other characters carry the utterly intolerable MC.
The narrator is a Saint and he really blew the performance out of the park. Ill look for more stuff by him.

Just so you know, I got this one for free from Aethon Marketing. Now, let's talk about this series. It's seriously good stuff, and this latest installment? It's just the cherry on top. I first stumbled upon it on Royal Road, but let me tell you, it's even better now with all the extra polish and the added narration. It's like the story has been given a new lease of life.
One day, one of my kiddos overheard me listening to it and, bam, she was hooked. I mean, who can blame her? The writing is top-notch, and there's nothing in there that would make you raise an eyebrow. It's clean, engaging, and just plain fun.
What I really appreciate is how the characters are portrayed. They've got these qualities that any young person would do well to emulate. They're brave, they're smart, and they never give up, no matter what. It's the kind of stuff that makes you want to be a better person, you know?
I'm totally committed to seeing this series through to the end. I'm already excited about where the story is going to take us next, especially when it comes to Alex. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see where he ends up and how he gets there. So, here's to more great storytelling! Can't wait to see what's next.

Just to let you know, I got this book for free from Aethon Marketing. Now, let me tell you, I'm totally into this series. It's got this cool mix of tech and cultivation that I've never seen done like this before. I was a bit unsure at first, but the author really nailed it and I was hooked pretty quickly.
The main character can be a bit clueless sometimes, but overall, he's pretty good at making decisions. I'm really hoping the next book in the series keeps up the good work. Can't wait to see what comes next and I'm crossing my fingers the author doesn't keep us waiting too long!

The book is, I don't even know the words to put it. it's like a story that you tell without really thinking all the details thru and things happen because the author decided so. I always love timeskips but here they were always weird...I don't think I'll continue. The MC is not really likeable or even the best character, the support characters are weird not very good match to the MC...honestly it doesn't look like if they were real people they would really interact...the whole thing is weird

so this is a good book in the series, and since I've read the story on royalroad, it was a refresher. And I have to say the spot where the book ended is pretty shit; I have noticed that the books are ending like web novels and not regular they need to stop that ishh.
