Story
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

Finally, a positive, optimistic approach!
Reviewed: 01-14-25
It turns out, zombies, cannibal bikers clad in leather and feathers, militias, rogue government forces, and sadistic gangs are NOT strictly required to tell a good post apocalyptic story. Unlike too many other stories in this genre, this story explores humanities more positive attributes, and that was refreshing.
I found the story engaging and the characterization was well done. This was a soft apocalypse in the sense that infrastructure and supplies were still mostly available and the number of survivors were fairly few. It allowed for characters who were normal people to make plans and follow through, rather than going feral in a kill or be killed world, which, again, was refreshing. The environment and situation were the antagonists.
The narration was well done, as well.
I've listened to this 3 times and will probably listen again because it makes me think about and consider this premise.
I definitely recommend this book.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

The characters were believable and came to life quickly. Shrek's POV was a fun and entertaining touch that I appreciated.
This apocalyptic world was well thought through and added to the ever-increasing danger faced throughout the stories.
Bronson Pinchot gave a good, solid performance that really added something extra to an already entertaining story.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action/adventure in a post apocalyptic world.

The golden rule of shallow flings is not to get attached, right? Well, Havana Ramos broke it. Big time. There's just something about Tate Devereaux that pulls at her. Assertive, compelling, and self-assured, the Alpha cat shifter pushes every one of her best buttons. Like really, really hard. Having overheard an enlightening conversation, she knows he won't give her more than a fling-something, to be fair, he'd told her well in advance. If she doesn't want her heart to get bruised, it's time to end what little they have.

Love Suzanne Wright's pack series
Reviewed: 07-13-21
The pack books, all of them, are a lot of fun. This one is particularly appreciated as the normal population FINALLY wakes up to and learns more and more about real world human trafficking, how insidiously prevalent it is, how it is organized, and who is funding it and profiting from it. (Epstein/Maxwell are just tye tip of the iceberg) It has been going on for so long unseen and unacknowledged right under our noses. Kudos to Suzanne Wright for including the issue in her book.

Story
Amassing unimaginable amounts of personal data, giants like Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple - once symbols of American ingenuity and freedom - have become a techno-oligarchy with overwhelming economic and political power. Decades of unchecked data collection have given Big Tech more targeted control over Americans’ daily lives than any company or government in the world. In The Tyranny of Big Tech, Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri argues that these mega-corporations - controlled by the robber barons of the modern era - are the gravest threat to American liberty in decades.

This book was worth reading just for the history and in-depth explanation. Clearly and concisely showing the historical parallel modern big tech is Hell-bent on repeating was where this book shines.
The suggested solutions to this crisis Americans face was the icing on the cake that left me feeling hopeful toward humanity.
While those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, Josh Hawley's book seems to say, "We have faced this before and overcome it, we can do it again. Here is how we can start."
Josh Hawley's narration was also excellent. Hopefully, this will awaken more of my fellow Americans so we can clean up this tangled mess.

Story
On the run from ruthless killers, I’m down to 10 bucks in my wallet and a half-tank of gas in my ancient car when I spot the ad for a live-in tutor. The job sounds like the answer to my prayers, but there’s a catch. The child’s father is the most beautiful, most dangerous man I’ve ever met. Darkly seductive and filthy rich, Nikolai Molotov is a tantalizing mystery, a lethally alluring contradiction. Bruised knuckles and tailored suits, tender endearments and dirty promises - my new employer draws me in like a magnet, even as my instincts scream for me to run.

Was great getting an inside peek behind the scenes of Little House. The show wouldn’t have been nearly as good without Nellie.
As an aside, am I the only one questioning why lawmakers would purposefully write in loopholes that legitimize pedophiles and make legal their actions? Governor Newsome in CA just did this again in 2020, BTW, making this legal as long as there is no more than a 10 year difference in age, making it perfectly legal for a 24 year old to have sex with a 14 year old minor. That this is flat wrong is not in debate by sane people. It is time to investigate the motive behind these so-called laws, who is enacting them, and who these loophole laws are designed to benefit, which certainly is not the children.
