very interesting listen! I love the narrators/ author's voice because I love that Irish brogue. the story was somewhat sad and disturbing at times but very interesting how things happened a hundred years ago and rules that they had in place. how far we have come but yet we still have miles to go.

Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Story
Dave Pelzer was brutally abused as a child by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. She considered him a slave - no longer a boy, but an "it". He was physically and mentally tortured and starved. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare he experienced behind closed doors, and his father was aware of the abuse but turned to denial and alcohol. The abuse only fueled a determination to survive and become stronger.

I remember reading this years ago and what a sad story it was. Now that I'm a fully grown adult, with my own adult children, who are now having kids of their own, it's even more sad to me. I commend David for writing this and being brave enough to tell his story to others, and also brave enough to have children of his own because that is a big hurdle when you have been abused as a child.

Story
The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

I had always heard reference to the Art of War but had never read it. decided to listen to it and it was only about an hour and a half long! I thought it was going to be more enlightening, I was somewhat disappointed. there were some good points in there that I could relate to real life situations. so I guess some of it will be useful in my future.

loving this series like I never thought that I would
Reviewed: 10-29-24
this Series has been such a blessed surprise to me. I love the characters I love the fact that she has no fear in jumping back and forth between the heroes and heroines and what you thought was going to happen doesn't happen. it resonates with me on such a deep level even though it's a young adult book. I just love it. I highly recommend if you like fantasy books.

Ida Pederson was an executive at ‘Nyberg Shoreline’ when she was sent to the small Northern Irish village of Port Kriel to diffuse tensions between the company and the local community. When an unexploded bomb was identified on the seabed near Nyberg’s windfarm, Ida sent a local crew of eight men to investigate. That night, only two men returned home, barely alive and unable to speak of what had happened out at sea.

I really enjoyed listening to this. I felt like I could see what was happening like I was watching a movie because the audio was that good... there were certain parts where I was frightened and other parts where I could tell what was going on just from hearing outside noises. I did enjoy the story as well I like stories that I feel could actually happen in real life.

Different from other Nora books, I still loved it
Reviewed: 07-18-23
Definitely different from other Nora Roberts books but I still loved it! I was kind of mad at the way things happened to be able to come together, but I got over it quickly. I love romance for a reason, most of the time it is fantastical. This was more real-life scenario which is sometimes disappointing. I've been a Nora fan for over 30 years and will continue to be in the future.
