About this listen

Jenna Wade has it all. A devoted husband. Two precocious children. A wildly successful mother. A beautiful house in one of the most desirable beach towns on the planet.

And seven hours to live.

Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again.

As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers.

But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Between competing detectives and colorful locals, everyone has a theory about who is behind this unthinkable crime. But things may not be as they seem ... will you be able to solve the puzzle before time runs out?

From the world’s bestselling author comes a fast-paced, unpredictable thriller starring Emmy-winner Sarah Paulson (American Crime Story), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Patina Miller (The Hunger Games), Mel Rodriguez (Better Call Saul), and more in this year's standout performances.

Short but interesting

I like audiobooks like this where there's realistic sounds and multiple narrators. It makes the story more interesting to listen to. This was a pretty good story, especially at the end. For a short story, it was fairly complete. Definitely shows what greed can do to someone.

Interesting twists on a classic theme

Voice artists are great- get a good vibe of almost all of the characters. There are some interesting nuggets of the characters that make sense later.

Good quick story

Spoilers ahead!
This was such a good listen. It was written amazingly and I loved the whole third party narrative for the book. It threw a new spin on a crime thriller and it was really enjoyable. In the end when it was revealed who the narrator was it was a complete wild card. Like what?! But it was really good! I loved it and I enjoyed the book, it was funny. The jokes that were cracked throughout the entire thing were golden and hilarious. I loved how it was told from such a different perspective, the perspective of the victim. Once again a James Patterson book that I absolutely love

Great Listening

I’m a pretty hard sell with narrators but this was a great listen while I cleaned and packed up my house to move, Made the time go so fast! Good story line but the narrators gave a great performance.
