Story
Vain and charismatic Walter Sickert made a name for himself as a painter in Victorian London. But the ghoulish nature of his art - as well as extensive evidence - points to another name, one that's left its bloody mark on the pages of history: Jack the Ripper. Cornwell has collected never-before-seen archival material - including a rare mortuary photo, personal correspondence and a will with a mysterious autopsy clause - and applied cutting-edge forensic science to open an old crime to new scrutiny.

This story goes into each character so well you begin to to think of them as real people with real life issues all told through a fantastically imagined other dimension in faerie lands. Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

The Bonds Made are Lasting!
Reviewed: 12-13-23
I love the way Rebecca Yarros has developed each character exposing raw unbridled yearning for lasting relationships. Watching the protagonist’s growth from first year to second and developing their critical skills. I felt myself cheering for a different person or dragon in each shift. Losing key people and the impact the losses have on each member of the groups show they are growing into viable adults with true care for one another. Very strong bonds have been made and affect how they handle ever changing situations. This is an engaging series with so much potential. I highly recommend this series for adults moving on to Adult series from the previous young adult series of there teens. College and above will enjoy.

The lessons learned in a policeman’s life show up at the most needed times in the lives of the DCI Ryan, his family and friends. Friendships grow deeper as does the bond of parents and their children. This book contains so much historical information, it is educational as much as mystery. Kept me interested from beginning to end!

In this story we learn of Cuthbert’s Cross. The story pulled at my heartstrings a multiple of times. Ryan’s wife is at risk, both with her pregnancy and her life. I was kept guessing through the story and was surprised by the ending. I love the way L J Ross weaves in pieces of past books into the stories. I felt quite close to the characters. I recommend this series to any who wants to deep dive into police procedurals, it has drama, mystery, excitement, tenderness, romance, and humor weaved throughout the series. I cannot wait to read the next offering.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
