Seriously loved the cat. I even named my cat after him! The entire name. This story was beautifully written and narrated, and as a very long time adventurer into the world of Valdemar (I've read every book multiple times), this one did not disappoint! It was wonderful to listen to the history of this fictional land unfolding, and it absolutely delighted me start to finish. Highly recommend the entire series!

Mediocre Story

First off, too many characters to follow. About the time I figured out who was who, they switched chapters to someone else. Some characters never mentioned again, despite lengthy introductions to them (Josephine, Ali, and the pilot and his daughter). They just disappeared five days in. Dan was annoying as a character. William and Ivar were the only decent characters after Holger was offed. Ozzy stole the whole book as far as character, and he was the dang dog.

The voodoo story line was wildly unbelievable and just....not it for me. Some reviewers really enjoyed that aspect of the story, but it didn't win any points on my end.

Story was well narrated. All in all, I am not unhappy with spending the credit for the entire collection, but I definitely would not have spent credits on each individual book. It's a mediocre zombie read, but for die hard zombie fans it was extremely mild in my opinion. Dumb risks were taken, and portrayed the humans involved as extremely ignorant, especially for this day in age when people should recognize a darn zombie when they see one!

The story was predictable. The narrator just ruined it for me. It felt like she was yelling really fast anytime anything mildly exciting happened. I had to constantly adjust my volume to compensate for it. Xaiden and Violets love affair is boring and repetitive, and even the sex scenes were boring and vanilla.

The only reason I continued to listen was because I freaking love dragons. I won't waste another credit on book three though.

After reading The Inheritance Series and being a huge fan of Murtagh, I was super excited for this book. It was a bit of a let down honestly. It started strong, but only did a semi-passable job of actually telling us more about Murtagh and Thorn. And the ending was.....a total let down. Sounds like it would have made a fantastic series and a whole new adventure if Murtagh had made a different choice right there at the end. Narration was good, characters were distinct and voiced with emotion! All in all, it was a good book...just could have been better.

I wish I could like this book. It is falsely described as the story of the first female to win this race, but Lara won on a technicality and purely by accident. Devan Horn actually won the race, but was penalized for time because her last horse had an undisclosed respiratory infection and it's heart rate did not drop within the hour. This author comes off as aloof, uncaring, scatterbrained, and honestly like she needs therapy.
Was not impressed. I did Google research on their race so I didn't have to actually finish the book.

This story captivated me from start to finish. The humor and witticism is rich and well timed. The character development is superb, use of "big words" throughout was very refreshing, and an overall extremely engaging story. This was the first I have read from this author, and will definitely be listening to more from him now!

I am deeply invested in this story now, and need the last two books asap! Although, after reading several of the authors books, he needs a few lessons on naming dragons lol!

Excellent story, the three main characters finally reunited! It got a bit chaotic towards the end, but was easy enough to follow if you have read the other books in the series.
