Publisher's summary

The great powers are stirring, and Holt and Ash are ready to return to the fight.

A summons from the Life Elder sets them on a perilous mission, leading to steaming jungles and blistering islands where ancient secrets will challenge everything they know of magic and dragons.

Talia, the Red Queen, is beset on all sides by pirate raiders and marauding mercenaries. Empress Skadi has abandoned her, battling uprisings in her own lands. As the noose tightens on Feorlen, Talia faces a difficult choice: let her people suffer or turn her powers against mortal foes?

Osric Agravain has found hope with his newly bonded black dragon, but some wounds run deeper than flesh and bone. Along the Fallow Frontier, he seeks the inner peace that has long eluded him.

And within the sanctum at Falcaer, Paragon Adaskar is struggling to unite the fracturing riders. If he fails, ruinous chaos will break across the world.

For when Elders and Paragons quarrel, kingdoms will fall.

About the Creator - Michael R. Miller

About the Creator

Michael R. Miller: Hailing from the wet and wild west coast of Scotland, Michael enjoys writing stories as sweeping in scope as the ancient landscapes he grew up in. His writing is known for rich character arcs, tight pacing, and layered magic systems. Songs of Chaos is his love letter to the dragon rider sub-genre, drawing inspiration from the classics like Pern, Dragonlance, and Eragon and combining them with the harder magic systems of Branden Sanderson and Will Wight, creating an epic tale all ages can enjoy.
Michael is also ‘that guy’ who enjoys-well, enjoyed... -discussing the mad fan theories of Game of Thrones even more than the books or show, and knows more about World of Warcraft than is probably healthy.

About the Performer

Peter has been recording short stories, abridged and unabridged audiobooks since 1993 and has recorded upwards of 300 titles from authors as wide ranging as Iain M Banks, Andrzej Sapkowski, Claire North, Neill Gaiman, Kate Atkinson, Mo Hayder, and Robert Louis Stevenson. His recordings cover a wide range from factual, technical books through historical fiction and science fiction, to mystery thrillers, epic fantasy and biographies. His first recorded short story was Ansell by EM Forster for the BBC. Most recent recordings include: Ascension by Nicholas Binge, Defiant ( Songs of Chaos Book III) by Michael R. Miller, and in the shortly to be recorded list, The Observant Walker by John Wright and The Prophet & The Idiot by Jonas Johnasson.

An ever better story

This book is fantastic. I won’t say this is Micheal Miller’s Magnum Opus, because he’s got a long career ahead of him, be he’s done something pretty dang amazing with this story and the characters. Peter Kenny takes the story from fantastic to fantastical. His voice lending power and emotions to each person. Don’t miss this book.

Better and better!!!

I’ve been listening since the Dragons Blade Trilogy and I gotta say Michael R. Miller is consistently getting better and better. The dynamics he’s created in this world are truly astonishing. Normally I’m not a fan of the darker books in a series but oh man the development happening here is wonderful. I’d like to take a quote from my man Osric here; “Do the job, and do it well.” Michael has done more than that. Especially with Peter Kennys narration. I will recommend to all my fantasy nerds! Can’t wait for the next two!

The best one yet of the series.

This for me is probably "the empire strikes back" of the series so far. It is the darkest i think with all the characters suffering triumphs and failures with main characters Holt and Ash doing all they can to defeat the Scourge. I cannot wait for the next book to come out and cannot recommend it enough.

A fantastic story

I loved it when changing points of view for each character would always start when the other last saw each other.

Another good entry

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first two in the series. There is one aspect I found confusing or hard to keep track of, but that could have simply been a result of me being distracted while listening.

Great Addition to Series

This was a really welcome addition to the book series Songs of Chaos. It gets a little confusing with all of the different riders and dragons talking at the same time, but it is really good!

Every book in this series is better then the last!

This is an incredible series. My only problem with it is that I have to wait for the next one!

There’s something really satisfying about the progression of the main characters. I love that their growth is accompanied by physical and spiritual change.

I can’t help but root for them to find a way out of whatever predicament they find themselves in and to keep moving forward.

A really fun and satisfying story. I highly recommend it.

Another solid addition

I’m really excited book 3 came out this year. I only had to wait 6 months compared to many other fans haha. The pacing of the story was good. I feel like book 3 is more of a set up for books 4 and 5. There was more of a big-picture focus compared the first 2. This was necessary though. I can’t wait for more focus on Holt and Ash in the coming books. Their “leveling up” is the bread and butter of this series.
