Welp, this story just became tiresome. The sexy giblets are still good but the story never developed.

I had no expectations of this book but I found it to be delightful. I felt like Nora Stanley were people I know. Just liked them all so much.

Honestly, this book has it all. Uninhibited nonbinary sexuality, power to fight back, true crime, Epstein like scandal, a realistic portrayal of men.
I want to live in this world.

This is a story about a girl who fled from her small town due to a community who misunderstood her families special witchiness and pinned a murder on them.
So she goes to New York and focuses on her career. When her grandmother dies and she just forgot to let her know where she lived, she didn’t get wind till months later. Hmmmm……
So in hallmark movie style, she goes home to settle things. She rejects the inheritance; a farm complete with a retail shop, barn and workroom. She refuses to shag the local boy with a great job who has only loved her since forever. And, she wants to liquidate everything to get back to her status job in NYC but not before she finds the true killer of the girls they were blamed for.
On top of that, the narrator makes her sounds whiny at least 50% of the time.
My eyes are hurting from rolling so hard. Girl, snatch up that farm as quick as you can. Housing prices are through the roof and you’re just going to throw that away?
Do not recommend for anyone over 35.

I love the concept of this but I felt like it would never end.
This could make a nicer series featuring different eras.
Also, I thought it strange that she kept looking for a romantic partner (young boys at 300 years old?) while I’m a youthful 49 and just want a clean, permanent home and retirement in my horizon.

The audio version is just a long, boring and sometimes snarky lecture about how stupid Americans are and how smart are the authors are.
The PDF required to accompany this is almost 100 pages. That was a burden on me and my printer.
I pay double for this audio version when they printed copy would’ve been superior.

The first section was erratic and intense. After that, it was wonderful.
This is the most validation I’ve ever had in my whole life. I had so many flashbacks and revelations while listening. I’m grateful to Katherine May for opening my eyes to the possibility that I’m autistic and to help me with understanding that I’ve imprinted on neurotypical but not one at heart.

I absolutely adored the main character. Being from Appalachia, I find him so relatable and well done.
I soon realized that I could not finish this book because I couldn’t bear to witness this child’s (who is my son’s age) heart break.
I simply was not brave enough to go through all that pain with him and fight projecting it onto my own son should something terrible happen to me.
Simply put, while this might be the most poetic novel, she’s ever written, I’m not sure that it would be good for me. As an artist myself, I always ask what the emotional trajectory is of the thing that I’m creating. I feel it’s irresponsible to burden the world with more darkness.
Now, I’m not making that call as the whether or not this is dark or light or somewhere in the middle. I just knew that it wasn’t good for me and had to stop.

This is literally a series of disconnected sentences that lasts for 1/2 hour. the rest is an interview with the author.
It’s not a book. It’s not even a story.
Just flip through it at the bookstore and move on with your one, precious life.
