This book is great!!!

I found this as an amazing resource for parents trying to figure out what to do with their child. Along with Dr. Russell’s “Taking Charge of ADHD book,” this is a great outline.

A Big Dose of Reality, Warmth, and Encouragement

I am a child clinical psychologist with extensive clinical and research experience related to ADHD. I am also a foster parent, and I thought I might enjoy and find new inspiration in Dr. Barkley's words. Russell Barkley's books are popular but definitely not "pop" psychology; he is a respected scientist practitioner. This book exceeded even my high expectations. Isn't it funny how you can "know" something but still need to hear it again -- in a new way. I found this book to be accurate and grounded while also being warm, encouraging, realistic, and practical. Even the narration well represents Dr. Barkley's authoritative, trustworthy voice.

For any parent of a child with ADHD and for any undiagnosed person, this is the book for you

This book can transform your relationship with yourself and your child with ADHD. You can read it from frontnto back or skip straight to the chapter that you are dealing with. The advice and empathy come from a place of understanding the at times debilitating neurological disorder.

Very helpful book, but somewhat annoying narration

A lot of good principles here, and very helpful way to frame one's mind about having a child with ADHD, and the nature of the disorder, but the narration was somewhat unenjoyable and monotoned.

Useful book

The book itself is very useful, but the narrator is horrible. I can honestly say I will not be listening to any book narrated this guy. I do, however, highly recommend the book… in print. Right off the bat I found myself having a better understanding of what my daughter is going through. I’ve been able to adjust my approach and offer more patience with her.

A must read for parents of children with ADHD

This was the most helpful, easy to listen to books I have read on the subject of ADHD. It not only explains the disorder but gives you encouragement, support and instructions on how to handle the struggles of parenting a child with ADHD.

Fantastic Book, AWFUl Narrator

This is a truly fantastic book. however, it was a real struggle to get through this audiobook, as I found the narrator’s voice grating and really distracting. such a shame, as the book is excellent. I know narrators voices are a personal preference, but just listen to a quick sample before you purchase this audiobook

Love this book but disliked the narrator

This book is so useful and helpful for parents of kids w ADHD. But the narrator was so intense! He sounds like a baseball announcer. His inflection and tone were so distracting. And it made it difficult to really connect w the material. For this book I would choose print.
