I don’t have a ton of space or experience, but this gave me the confidence to get started anyway. I’ve already planted a few veggies and even built a small setup for hens, something I never thought I’d do. The tone is super encouraging without being over the top, and the info is clear and practical. It made the whole idea of self sufficiency feel less like a dream and more like something I could actually live.

A great part of this title is that it includes the accompanying text in the app which is immensely helpful when absorbing the information needed to create healthy, organic produce where you know where it is coming from. In addition, one thing I really liked about this audio title was that they also pack in a huge amount of knowledge regarding proper protocols when raising healthy animals that will supply your plate for the foreseeable future, and again, you know where it’s coming from! Not like store bought products. This would be an excellent first-time beginner’s listen for anyone looking to put in the work to make sure they know where their food is coming from and who desires to be self-sustainable in a day and age where we rely so heavily on supermarkets to take care of us.

I’ve always been curious about homesteading but assumed you needed a bunch of land, but this book totally shifted that mindset. I live in the suburbs and started small with a raised bed and a few hens (yep, even here!). The tips are clear, doable, and not overwhelming, even if you’re brand new like I was. It’s like having a friend walk you through the basics without making you feel dumb.

I used to think homesteading was only for people with land and a ton of free time, so I never really looked into it. But I was curious, so I listened to this audiobook. I live in a suburban area with limited space, but I learned that I can start small—like growing herbs on a windowsill or understanding the basics of composting. It's easy to take the next step when you have a place to start. I won't be able to do everything, but I'm excited about the things I can do.

Okay, so I don’t live on a sprawling farm—I’ve got a postage-stamp yard and neighbors who would definitely have thoughts if I brought home a goat. But this book made me feel like I could still dip my toe into the homesteading life without needing to go full Little House on the Prairie. It’s super beginner-friendly, and I loved how it broke things down in a way that didn’t feel overwhelming. Plus, it’s giving me a way to show my kids how food grows and what it means to care for something beyond screen time. Love it

A Beginner's Guide to Simple Homesteading is good introduction to homesteading for anyone interested in learning about this. The author does a nice job of explaining that you do not need a farm or a lot of acreage to be able to depend less on stores and markets and more on yourself. The chapters on container gardening were great as well as building your own compost system - something I always had felt was beyond me before listening to this. There were also sections on growing your own vegetables, preserving your harvest, and raising chickens in your own backyard! Great listen for anyone wanting to be more self-reliant and live more sustainably even if you don't have a large space.
