About this listen

Necromancer trainee, bookseller, novel writer Ava Harper is settling into her new life with friends and her houseguests. And she definitely isn't thinking about a certain hunky sheriff who pops in unannounced at every turn. And mostly ignoring her devilish new neighbor, a lingering Christmas present from herself.

She has bigger things to worry about. Like learning her newly woken powers. And convincing her house that she isn't selling it so it will stop scaring off any visitors.

Her life gets more complicated when the local coven decides Ava has dodged them for long enough. She doesn't have any interest in joining the coven. She's everything they turn their nose up at. A necromancer with a weird ability to heal people.

But they want her.

When other coven members fall victim to freak accidents, Ava is sure something dark is at play. And the more Ava learns about the so-called accidents, the more her past haunts her.

Once again, she puts her trust in her friends - and the deliciously mysterious man in charge of the local law enforcement - to get to the bottom of whoever is targeting witches.

Fun but a bit juvenile in places.

Could have done so much more with this and the characters. Lots more development possible.

Off to a very good start…

This second book in this series was a delightful easy listen filled with humor, suspense, mystery and a bit of romance. Authors did a good job with the storyline and character development. Here Ava finds out who killed her mother and who within the Covenant was into several acts of foul play and murder. Ava continues to amuse Lucifer and he occasionally drops in unannounced. Also enjoying the narrator who does a great job.

loving these book but so short

I enjoyed this story very much and love all the characters. There seems to be some underlying story regarding Alfie and Snoozles that I'm so curious about. Like the first book Im really suprised theres not more reviews because in this genere I really feel like this story line would be and should be a hit. especially considering its only a 4 hour book but still a blanced book with action plus the narration is great. Since the book is so short and one credit I do wish they would bundle some together or allow to pay outright. the cost of 3 credits is 40 dollars so that's approximately 13 dollars if buying extra credits. Even though I'm falling in love with the series I will be waiting for my monthly credit which stinks because the book finishes so fast I really want to listen to the next, its a lesson in patience I suppose Overall the writing is great.I do have one complaint, mind you Im definitely not an authour, the beginning was very confusing for me. I don't know if I missed a story but the parts about Lucy and Larry were definitely not built up enough and had me searching for a novella or something I missed between the first and second books. Eventually it all came to light but not clearly at first I was listening at some points thinking "who the hell is Larry, what, who is this lucy and apparently his girlfirend Carrie" In my opinion the infamous Christmas party really should have been where the story started or an epiloge in the first book. I felt cheated that there wasn't more story build up on that from the brief snippets that part of the story would have been really fun. I will be checking it the author website maybe there is a small story hidden there.

Missing important information...

I loved the first book. When I started this one, I quickly realized I was missing quite a bit of information. Looking into it, there are 13 books in this series and this is actually book 4. Cookies for Satan & I'm With Cupid which are novellas, come before this one. There are quite a few actually & they aren't available in Audiobook.

Too junior high school.

After I started this book I found myself confused. I didn’t remember the first book. Then, as the story progressed, I figured out why. These books are stupid. Or more accurately put, juvenile. It is written at about a 4th - 8th grade reading level. Just not good if you’re someone who likes a lot more thought put into their plots. So I stopped. Good luck to those who like this writing style.
