Two people from different worlds. A Duke’s son and a sergeant’s daughter. A wounded warrior and an innocent girl.
Wounded, angry, and haunted, Major Duncan Greenville returned from war only to discover his young ward had grown into a beautiful woman. A fact that would make him question society’s custom of placing a man’s ward off limits. Especially the daughter of the man who saved his life.
Miss Emily Winslow had loved the dashing Major since the moment he rescued her from that vile orphanage and the dangers of the factory floor. A British Lord, tall, handsome, and a war hero. What woman wouldn’t fall in love? Unfortunately, the man would always see her as the little girl he had left behind. A sergeant’s daughter, unfit for a Duke’s son.

Contains a graphic sex scene. Recommended for mature readers.
The narrator has a pleasant voice, and she does a nice job with the book.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.
An interesting period romance

I own book 1 Duke's Desire, and it was on my Audiblr list. Then it disappeared. Now Amazon lists the audiobook as unavailable. So I had to away to access it as a Kindle book.
Book 2 has has similar problems as it disappeared after syncing to the Audible app.
Books 3 and 4 of Duke's Club series have audio quality that varies through a book. It sound like the narrator changes locations (back echo) or equipment. There are hundreds of spots where words or phrases repeat, like an old LP skipping and bouncing on the record. I love the vocal timber of the narrator, but authors that use her need to use intense oversight. For example: orientated DOES NOT mean oriented. Orientate is the past tense of orient or the far East. She makes r this error in each book. Also, I understand putting a teaser chapter at the end of the book. Buy if you do this it MUST be introduced with book title, series name and placement # and an invitation. If you just stick random chapters at the end of the book the author, publisher and narrator are acting disrespectful to their customers and look very unprofessional. Consumers will be cautious to buy in the future is you can't treat readers/listeners better.
The stories are good and deserve audiobook treatments with higher standards. I appreciate the inclusion of a tiny bit more history that this series offers, compared to so many historic romance series.
The for heros of the four book's formed the Duke's Club while at school. Now grown they are becoming the Dukes' Club, with a meaningful move of the punctuation mark. That construct, 4 peers bonded by boarding school injustice, seems very familiar, perhaps from a Victoria Alexander 2017 series?
