About this listen

A Warhammer Age of Sigmar audiobook.

War makes for strange alliances - and so it is for the free city of the Colonnade, which must turn to the Mother of Nightmares and her dynasty of monsters to defend themselves against the hordes of Chaos....

Listen to it because: get an insight into one of the newest threats to the Mortal Realms - the monstrous vampire queen Lauka Vai and her dynasty of terrifying, bloodthirsty killers.

The story: the Colonnade, a free city held aloft by gargantuan pillars and crowned with a spire of diamonds, is the jewel of Ghur, obsessed with purity in a realm of bestial savagery. But now, it faces annihilation at the hands of an unstoppable beastherd. In a desperate gamble, Councillor Atella Reigehren requests the aid of a being anathema to the Colonnade. She seeks Lauka Vai, the Mother of Nightmares, and her dynasty of monsters, the Avengorii. The crucible of war has thrown these factions together, but can they put their differences aside to face this common foe, or will the clash of purity and monstrosity be their undoing?

Written by David Annandale. Narrated by Christopher Kent. Running time 9 hours 34 minutes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. The characters seemed very interesting and layered, and I liked the relationships between them. Was also very interesting to see the Avengorii in action. The narration was also very good, and I was never taken out of the immersion.

A great read, fantastic for Avengorii fans

I enjoyed the story over all but definitely feel like it was forced into a path by being about a named character from the game. 9/10 would definitely recommend it

fun story and good voice acting

A great look into the Avengorii dynasty of soulblight gravelords, does a amazing job at making the humans far more hate able then the most monstrous dynasty.

Great Soulblight Gravelords book

These bestial vampires are hard-core to say the least. A good time, if a bit dark for some.

Awesome.

Big fan of the current AOS books, but wasn't too sure about Dynasty of Monsters- I had an extra credit and a long drive ahead of me in October and decided to give it a try. The characters are fascinating and the story will pull you in, and you'll quickly realize who the true monsters are. Now I need to pick up Lauka Vai to add to my collection!

Surprised at how good this was

really, I'm beginning to think Black Library can do no wrong with Vampire novels.

lovely characters, Annandale did a positively brilliant job making Lauka Vai feel powerful, when she really not in the book often, you as the reader can still feel her presence. I actively want to build a Soulblight Army now.

Are all Black Library Vampire novels good?

This was an excellent presentation by the VA and the author. I have always enjoyed the undead aesthetic going back to WHFB, and I wasn’t initially sold on these new vampires…but this book has sold me on the lore and personal motivations of the Avengorii..to the point that by the end I very much thought we were the monsters comparatively. Excellent read/listen and I would definitely suggest it to any new/or old hobbyist/lore master.

If you haven’t yet gotten into AoS novels than you should!

Everything about this story is fantastic. Both the author and narrator understand how to convey exactly what they are trying to convey. In my top 3 books of all time

Excellent Storytelling

Just getting into sigmar after playing warhammer 40K for years this story doesn’t disappoint, darkness, vampires, monsters and horror.

Excellent soulblight novel

I was immediately interested in this title, having played the vampire noble faction in the Total War: Warhammer games a lot. It turned out to be far better than I ever could have expected.

Don’t be put off by all the “who are the REAL monsters?!” reviews like I was. The story is far better than that shallow reading might suggest and never actually has a moment that simple.

It’s all about the characters in this one. You will really loathe the loathsome ones (the author did such an excellent job with one in particular that I was inwardly seething and wishing for his comeuppance every second he continued to live), and will easily find investment in the plight of others.

Highly recommended. Well worth a credit.

Just amazing character work
