About this listen

Aila Marshall wants nothing to do with Auld Donell and his endless schemes, but even she cannot deny the lure of a mystery 300 years in the making and a hunt for a lost treasure. When she's sent to the wrong time entirely, Aila knows she's been played. She knows she should return to her own time and give Donell a piece of her mind.... On the other hand, what's the rush when an undeniably handsome Scot crosses her path?

Finn Keeley, Lord Rossmore, has no time for a new assistant. Especially one as sassy and bonny as the fiery redhead who'd come to fill the role. He's spent years waiting for the opportunity to avenge the death of his wife and not once has his determination wavered. He cannot let Aila divert him from his purpose now...even though she's the most passionate distraction he's ever known.

As far as Aila Marshall was concerned, a good man was hard to find and love even harder. Fairy tales and white knights were nothing more than a myth. Despite her best friend finding a man in the past to steal her heart, Aila has no intention of following in Brontë's footsteps. She's content to indulge in the smoldering desire she shares with Finn while she solves her mystery. Nothing more. Until more is all Aila desires.

Perfection!

All of the stuff I love in a book. Time travel, smart heroines, hunky highland heroes and sexy, loving.
a can't miss!
Kirsten Potter is terrific as the narrator. She bring an energy and completeness to each character.

It would be 5 stars if no F word

What an incredible story, but the F word starts up a few chapters in and carries throughout the story.
Is it authentic to this heroine’s character? In real life I would surmise it to be. But for Ms. Fortin’s loyal readers, she could have respectfully left it out. For this potty mouth heroine was never short of Scottish slangs and cuss words, which made her quite humorous had the author forgone the F word. I own nearly every audiobook this author has released, that’s a good amount of money. I won’t pay anyone a dime to listen to word in a story. If I remove the F word from the story, I will tell you it was one of the best stories I’ve ever listened to. Ms. Fortin has such a creative imagination.
I know narrator Kirtsten Potter gets rave reviews, and I think she performs each story with great passion and emotion. And she does quite well with a Scottish brogue for her female characters. But I do wish she would work on her performance on the Scottish male voices. I wish I could upload a clip as an example.
Ms. Potter’s narrating of male characters is really nice until she narrates words with really strong emotion. Unfortunately the narration in those sentences goes off to a very odd attempt at a Scottish brogue. If you listen to every Scottish Romance story narrated by Ms. Potter, at every point where the author writes “in his thick (Scottish) brogue,” something goes awry with Ms. Potter’s pronunciation of each word. It is quite odd. It sounds dark, hooting and well it sounds like there is something wrong with that person. I hope she listens to these parts and changes it for future recordings.
I check audiobooks for mistakes. I listen to more than enough audiobooks for work to be a good critique of narrators. But what authors need to know is the narrator either sells your book or shuts down sales on that book by not being any good. I do believe Ms. Potter is one of the top 10 female narrators at this time. It is because of her incredible talent, I ask from her a little bit more.

Another great time travel story

I absolutely loved reading this second story.
Following on from the first story, this time Aila goes 300 years back in time to solve a mystery and meets and falls in love with Finn.
Wonderful characters and another amazing storyline.
Fell in love with the characters and love Auld Donell’s interferences.
Audiobook narration was once again amazing, I loved listening along.

All about women's rights

As a woman, I'm all for women's rights, equal pay and all that. But when I read a fictional, time-traveling romance, i don't want to read about women's rights when they're intentionally traveling back in time (for whatever reasons) where I expect the men to be romantic heroes and the women tio be strong, but able to afapt to the time they're in...especially when they're not "stuck" there! Ms. Potter does a good job with Scottish accents and male voices, so she was not the problem. I was again disappointed that there wasn't more dialog between the characters...too much like a narrative. The story, after listening to the first novel, quickly became predictable. As I thoroughly enjoyed the "A Laird For All Time" series, I bought all three of this series at one time. I've learned a valuable lesson: See if the first one captures my imagination, even though it's the same author. Sadly, I feel Ms. Fortin could have done much better.

I hate they say I got it for free!

I love Auld Donnel so much for the 1st time in 8 months I bought credits. I want more of Auld Donnel!!! I want to know about all the babies. Especially Huges. How the narrator did all the voices in 5 books yet they all sounded different. I normally go for dual for my books. But I totally loved her. Thank you for writing a great time travel with the hot & sexy highlander's. Its been a long time. I was like get to know a new ole friend.

Unable to Finish

OK, I admit I am not happy with this book and it has nothing to do with the story. I was raised to understand that the four-letter word beginning with F is the filthiest word in the human language. It may have become commonplace in today's society but not for me. I just couldn't complete the book past chapter three.
