About this listen

Dakota Scott has spent her entire adult life trying to outrun her past, but even the privilege and reputation her family name affords her haven't helped her forget. Her mother's mental illness and the memory of the night that haunts her from so long ago won't release her. When the one woman with the power to set her free shows up, Dakota is drawn to her, but she is a painful reminder of everything Dakota has been trying desperately to escape. When Jessie Weldon returns to her hometown after thirty years of avoiding it, she knows she has demons to face and a conflicted past to resolve, but she has no idea love awaits her. Can she give her heart to Dakota with the tragic past that lies between them?

Loved this one

I really enjoyed this one.

The story is heartfelt with a touch of cute and lots bittersweet emotions. But it’s a good one.
It’s not the typical lesbian romance with its meet-cute scenes. These ladies have some serious history and not the good kind. The characters are cute in their own rights. Their interactions together are super cute (in the not so sad moments) and once they overcome some issues, you can’t help but root for them.

The narrator was great. Lots of deeper voiced women but not in a masculine way, more mature sounding. I’m not sure how to explain that lol. But I really enjoyed her take and she did great with the expressions in her voice for the characters.

I would definitely recommend.

Good listen, a little sad

I enjoyed the pace of this book. It didn’t jump around too much and it was captivating enough that I wasn’t checking to see how much time was left. I always have the same likes and dislikes with Lori Prince. Her narration is great. Usually the main characters are good, but sometimes I feel like the tone switches or they start sounding the same. I felt that here and it gets confusing. Some of her voices are too whiny for my taste, as well. Over all I liked the book, but found it sad throughout.

Excellent audio!

I loved A Heart to Call Home. Wow! What’s not to like. Dakota and Jessie are excellent main characters. So relatable. This book reminds us all that you never know what goes on behind closed doors in other peoples houses. Wealth does not equal happiness.

Good story

Different from more of the regular stuff. It has a lot to do with grieving and lost, with forgetting someone’s mistakes and out own. Highly recommended

Captivating story

A very moving emotional storyline.. couldn't keep it down! But the ending was too short... perhaps an epilogue.. (wanted more of these two)
Beautiful chemistry between Jessie and Dakota too..
10/10 to the narrator, very well told, could actually feel the emotions and all..

Well done, emotional and explicit

Couldn't stop listening... The start frustrated me, as the details came, I understood why... I laughed, smiled, cried and wanted love to win out. You'll need to listen to see if it does. Lori Prince does an amazing job as usual.

Absolutely in Love!

I adore this book! Such a sweet and heartwarming story of Jessica and Dakota. The character and relationship development was just right. It's one of those books that doesnt just tug on your heart strings, it yanks them at full force. As always, Lori Prince does an amazing job with the narration. I highly reccomend this amazing work by Jeannie Levig! Buy it, now!

Whew that’s a lot of anxiety

Unique & interesting plot, sweet love story overall, & steamy romantic moments. Just a TON of angst. And I mean almost to the point of being absurd & kinda felt like it was thrown in just to serve as points of drama that was senseless & made the story feel a bit drawn out. Also, Lori Prince did great job with narration...I just wasn’t crazy about her voice for Dakota. At times she sounded more like a lofty teenage boy than a 50 y/o semi-butch woman...& it was kinda awkward. At times I laughed (not at anything funny, just the way she was portraying the character’s pitch & tone). It’s a decent book though & narration was perfect other than the Dakota thing. I enjoy the author’s writing style overall. But the angst & teen boy voice kept me from giving it 5 stars across the board & not sure this one will be permanent installment in my library.
