About this listen

With the loss of her first true love, Carolina Adams finds life at the family plantation nearly unbearable. Desperate to escape, she moves to Baltimore to become a nanny to Victoria, a little girl whose mother has died.

After breaking his wedding engagement with Virginia Adams, Carolina's older sister, James Baldwin immerses himself in work for the B&O Railroad, the other passion in his life besides Carolina. But when a shocking business proposal is given to Carolina, James and Carolina seem destined to be apart. Can they dare to dream their aspirations for love might come true?

wonderful

This is the second book in the series. I love it. There was more reference to God in this book than the previous.

A Hope Beyond

This was written so well. It was the very best book I have listened to in a very long time.

There is one more in this series to look forward to. Book 2 covered so many directions not sure what more is left. Hoping it will be the same narrator, I have not looked.

Finally they got together

This has been a long two books. It is good. But be prepared to listen for a while. It took them six or seven years, but the lovebirds finally got together.

ever changing

I found Carolina to be very fickle sometimes intelligent and others times unable to make a decision and it made the story frustrating.

Fantastic Series!!!!!

This whole series is wonderful! It weaves Christian life principles throughout and really deals with heart issues within a family and extended relationships. Love the historical aspects and the building of the railroad!

Wonderful

Enjoying this series very much. The joy and faithfulness of God is seen, family situations are very similar to our families today. Nothing new under the sun 🌞

This narrator is amazing

The story is great, but the narrator is amazing. She does the male voices so well. There are a few of the male voices that i didn't like, but for most, i could'nt realize that it was a man speaking and the accents were so good.

Good story,

The story kept me listening, and I enjoyed the characters in the setting. For me I would’ve preferred less theatrical in the performance and the character voices were sometimes irritating.
some editing might’ve helped cut down on the interruptive story details. Slave reference was treated like wallpaper. Sure, that was accurate, but it was also disturbing.
