About this listen

The second book in A Trial of Sorcerers is filled with forbidden magic, shadowy intrigue, heart-pounding action, and slow-burn romance.

Eira is now a champion of the Solaris Empire. She’s off to a land she’s only dreamed about. But a nightmare awaits her.

Her sworn enemy has escaped. His allies are powerful and deadly. And Eira finds herself tangled in the dangerous web of the undercity of Risen, where the mysterious Court of Shadows and lethal Pillars battle for the fate of the kingdom.

But vengeance has a price. When Eira is captured by her enemies, it’s not only her life, but the lives of her friends, and the man she loves most, at stake. The woman she was won’t be enough to turn the tides churning against her from long before she was born. She’ll have to become something more. She’ll have to love deeper and fight fiercer than ever before.

The only way to kill a legendary champion will be to become one herself.

I’m so glad to be back in this world for a bit. Now I cannot wait for the next one. Elise never disappoints when it comes to her stories!

As always an amazing read!

Although Eira is a headstrong character who runs into all interactions like she knows better than everyone else she Atleast has a great group of friends and strong magic to back her up.
I liked that we got to learn more about the world Solaris and Meru inhabits as well as revisit some characters from the Vortex Visions series.
This book needs to be read after book one but doesn’t need to be read after the Vortex Visions or Air Awakens series.
There was so many secrets unlocked in this book along with more questions to be answered in the next installment. I can’t wait to read more about Eira!

Amazing series

I really liked this series and the narrator. I really liked Elizabeth Evans as a narrator for previous titles by Kova but Vanessa did a great job

The performance was intriguing

The book and performance have you wanting to continue to listen. Although I do wish the young heroine could catch a break or have some hope. Lots of unexpected twists.

Good read

A bit slow coming off the first book but loved the ever changing plot twists and puzzles to solve within the story

Still good, but slightly less than the others

I appreciate that Eira is growing and changing in this book, but I feels like the second book of a trilogy. There is one really important part where Eria gets up close and personal with the Pillars that sets you up to really hate them. She's feeling so much angst about the death of her brother and avenging him that she's missig connecting with her Solaris co-competitors. Eria's making mistakes left and right in this book, and I only hope that it pays off in the end.

Terrible Narration and book

The narrator changed accents through the story for the same character. She also was no the best. The book was predictable.

Too much random stuff

I like all of the new characters that were added to this book, but the entire storyline felt like a giant set up for the third and final installment of the series.
