Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling romance author Jude Deveraux continues her breakout Medlar Mystery series with a twisted tale of guilt and revenge....

The small town of Lachlan, Florida, was rocked last year when two bodies were uncovered in the roots of a fallen tree. Despite their lack of investigative experience, Sara Medlar; her niece, Kate; and Jack Wyatt found themselves at the center of the mystery, working together to reveal the truth behind a decades-old secret in the sleepy town. After a narrow escape, they vowed to never again involve themselves in something so dangerous - until Janet Beeson is murdered.

When Janet’s body is discovered, everyone is shocked by the violence of the attack. The sweet little old woman has been shot, stabbed, and poisoned, but no one can imagine who would want to harm one of the town’s kindest, most helpful residents.

Sara, Kate, and Jack are determined to leave this case to the professionals. But they are soon bombarded by townspeople eager to tell their stories and clear their names with the trio who solved the Morris murders. Even the sheriff is hoping they’ll lend their skills to a crime that seems to have no explanation and no motive. And once the town gets talking, they begin to see that there are more secrets buried in quiet Lachlan than anyone could have imagined....

A who-done-it mystery

I read the Kindle version along with the audiobook, where Susan Bennett does a wonderful job as narrator on this book. I read/listened through to the end in two sessions, it was that good.

"A Justified Murder" is a who-done-it mystery that keeps you guessing until the end of the book. Sara and her house guests, Kate and Jack, are trying to stay away from a gruesome murder, but get pulled in by all the confessions of the townspeople.

We get to meet more of the residents of Jude's fictitious town Lachlan, Florida.

The story's author, Sara Medlar, has several of Jude's traits, and sounds much like Jude does on her Facebook page. The personal touches Jude added to this book, along with the strong intelligent women (not to mention the tall, dark and handsome men) have enticed me to look away briefly from the Montgomerys and Taggerts long enough to read these murder mysteries.

I liked the Ending!

This was a very enjoyable story. In many ways it is believable as to how a small community reacts to major crimes and how one family can be involved on so many levels. The resolution to the crime sounds a little crazy, but that is reasonably explained for the most part. The the ending is definitely in line with the title of the book. My one complaint is the over dramatization of the romance between several of the lead characters. That never did seem realistic to me and it was simply too much outside of the main story. Still, I would enjoy reviewing more books by this writer with these characters involved.

Wonderful Series

I have been so disappointed lately as I was getting some horrible books. Let me rephrase. The books were probably not bad if read but with the narrators that voiced them made them unbearable to hear. This series is fantastic. After reading the first I went and grabbed the second one. I am now sad there are only two. I can't wait for the third. And I wish Susan Bennett could narrate al the books LOL

Awesome

I just love the Medler Series! Can't wait for the next one. Kate and Jack are always giving each other a hard time and I think in time, they will be a couple? The next book in the series is out in March I believe and I will immediately listen to it! Susan Bennett is a great narrator - without great narration, I cannot listen to many books regardless of the store line. Keep them coming Jude!

Great Book

This is the second book in the series and this one was just as great as the first one. I want to immediately read more! The characters and story is superb. The narrator is great. Definitely has everything you want in a mystery.

Love this series

This series is great. I love the 3 main characters. At times I laugh out loud at their actions and the things they say to each other. I have listened to both books and both were great. Looking forward to more adventures with Sarah, Jack, and Kate.

Redemption: Go Ahead and Purchase

I must admit that I found many problems with the first book in this series and my review reflected that. I reluctantly gave this one a chance and I am glad I did. I would have given the performance higher marks because Susan Bennett is very good with these characters, but she continues to mispronounce words and it is a little maddening. As I said in the first review, that should go to the director, but still, it’s sloppy. Worth a read for sure though I do recommend wading through the first book for the character development of the three main characters.
