Publisher's summary

Blood slave to courtier of the Winter fae... you'd think I'd moved up. I'm not so sure.

The auction block awaits, and a vicious vampire prince wants me and what flows through my veins. So I make a run for it, only to end up falling at the feet of a fae warden.

Technically, Roar, the Warden of the West, should return me to the vampire court, but he has other ideas. He needs a fake fiancée.

The deal: if I play his dutiful partner at the Winter Court and help him trick the cold King of Winter, Roar will hide me from the blood-suckers intent on draining the life from me.

I agree, and for a while, it seems like nothing can go wrong. That is until Vale, Warden Roar's nemesis, sets his sights on me. A part of me likes the warrior prince's attention. Luckily, the more sane part knows Prince Vale is not a fae to mess with.

Besides, I can't dissolve my contract with Warden Roar. To do so would bring down the ire of the king and ruin my chances of earning my freedom. So I do my best to keep Roar and Vale from each other's throats, all the while convincing the Winter Court of my love for Roar.

It's official: I'm a part of the deadly game of noble houses, and losing could cost me everything.

If you like the political intrigue of Game of Thrones and the found family aspect and romances of ACOTAR, you'll love this romantic fantasy.

Wasn’t my favorite

I found this book entertaining, but lacking a lot of depth. I personally think it would’ve been a better listen with a different narrator. I don’t regret the listen, but I decided not to continue the series.

A very good story

I really like this story is full of betrayal, Lies, love, friendship. The story has a por of the typical fairy, romance atoréis but with a twist you never know who to trust and who don’t , the main character is different fron others I’ve read, the narration some times feels a little mecanic though

Neive

The ending it just stopped. It was like there should be another book to continue their story.

A bunch of characters randomly have the same accent as the Count from Sesame Street, the rest are Americans 🤔

Made it to Chapter 9. Gave up. The story is sooooo slow. It takes pages to observe the main character eat a bowl of pot roast but removing the metal spikes in her wings she’s had for a lifetime in a painful and dramatically difficult process takes about 2 minutes and we get little detail. The narrator is unclear about when and how to use inflection, choosing instead to make the main character sound like Madonna did during the Evita press tour (fake British clipped accent—weird). Do not recommend.

Easy to follow, yet still intriguing.

This book got me over the ACOTAR slump. Was disappointed there was not more detailed 'romance' scenes, but still a good listen.

Amazing story horrible performance!

I loved this book it was so good and so worth the read. but I have to emphasize read not audio book. the performance by the narrator was one of the worst I have ever heard. she has a really bad lisp and she forgets the characters voices and get them all mixed up and just really destracting from the amazing story. I am even going to buy the books to put on my self. but don't waste your money on the audio book. If I was the author I would hire a different narrator for the second book because this audio book really hurt the author from getting the recognition she deserves from such a good book.
