Publisher's summary

She stole his memory. Will he steal her heart?

Shrouded Sister Cassandra Fortin is a wannabe rebel hidden beneath midnight blue dress robes. By day, she toils at the Temple, pulling the human memories craved by her Fae overlords. By night, she hunts through those same memories for treasures to steal, buying freedom for the mortal colonies' least fortunate families.

When her fellow Sisters begin disappearing, the officer assigned to the case is the one individual who could expose her secret criminal history. Good thing Cassandra stole his memory when he apprehended her during her most recent philanthropic robbery.

Officer Tristan Saros has always had a soft spot for mortals and a healthy skepticism towards authority. Especially his own. Now, the irreverent, flirtatious Fae warrior has finally found the perfect distraction from immortal boredom—his intriguing new partner. Too bad about her pesky chastity vow. And why does she seem so familiar?

As Tristan and Cassandra team up to find her missing Sisters, their reluctant alliance transforms into a passionate yet forbidden attraction. During the investigation, they uncover a conspiracy that threatens to dismantle the five-centuries-long peace between their two species.

To save the Sisters and keep their world from the brink of war, Tristan will need to decide if his loyalties reside with Fae or humans. Cassandra will be forced to choose between her safe, gilded cage or uncertain, pitiless freedom outside the Temple walls.

And if Tristan ever recalls Cassandra's crime? Well, that might just be the most dangerous outcome of all.

Looking for a new fantasy romance series that combines the "snarky mortal woman navigates a world hostile to her species" vibes of The Serpent and the Wings of Night with the "questioning my chastity vow in the face of this hot new mysterious male in my life" energy of From Blood and Ash plus the "we're conducting an investigation together but are struggling to keep our hands off each other" tension of Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood? The Memory Puller just might be your next obsession.

Intended for mature listeners.

Loved IT!

This is a slow burn romance with fabulous world building. The characters are completely fleshed out with great backstories, that make their skill levels and knowledge believable. If you’ve read Maas or Yarros you need to read this book, because honestly the world building is as good as these two phenomenal authors. Yes, I actually said this, as the Memory Puller’s world is so layered it’s a must read for romantasy readers. The major differences is that the memory puller has a smaller cast of characters, so the world building feels more intimate. It’s a world where humans and utterly subjugated by Fae, who feed on human memories to get a euphoric high. Haines also wrote great secondary characters. The spice level is about a three with heavy petting, but the main female lead is a kind of nun, so slow burn.
The narrative performance was outstanding and both the narrators gave excellent performances.

Fae Warriors and Shrouded Sisters

Cassandra is working hard to do her duty but also help those in need. Even if that may not look good for her reputation as a Shrouded Sister. One night while trying to steal a beautiful necklace from a wealthy family, she is caught. Tristan is a Fae warrior on duty and has a soft spot for humans and others that would generally be considered below him. This confuses Cassandra greatly. That and her undeniable attraction to Tristan. But his memory of her can’t remain. She has the ability to take it, and she does.

As more of her fellow sisters are disappearing, Tristan and her paths continue to cross. As they seek to find what is happening, they question where their loyalties lie. Tristan’s with the Fae or with humans. Cassandra’s with the temple or with Tristan.

The worldbuilding is out of this world. An absolute must-read!!! “I do bite, but rarely on a first date”

All the things you could want in a fantasy romance and MORE. The chemistry, world, and characters… Oh my! 😍😍 each character was so intricate, and they are all fabulous.

The premise was so good and unique.

The narrators were perfect.
