About this listen

A Little Book of Mourning follows the journey of the human heart when confronted with loss. Through this collection of spontaneous short essays, Katherine Lench Meyering shares the pathway she navigated through the abyss any parent would experience after a child's catastrophic choice.

A trained actress, vocalist, songwriter and author, Katherine attempts to make amends with sadness, despair, and anger, and to find forgiveness, understanding, and peace with the unthinkable. With the unchangeable. With the illogical.

These are the lucid, raw feelings that arose after the loss of her daughter, Alex, to suicide, presented chronologically as Katherine experienced them. Katherine hopes the vivid descriptions of her feelings and thoughts as she is forced to cope with an untimely death might help someone else living through the same thing.

It might feel like you are alone in this, but you aren't. And listening to how Katherine is getting through this never-ending process might help you get through it, too.

Vulnerability

I enjoyed listening to the narration and vulnerability to process such a loss. Our culture doesn’t do the best with grief and sorrow. Mrs. Meyering takes the process and shares her process for mourning any loss. We are so fortunate to have such a helpful tool. With gratitude thank-you!

A Little Book with a BIG impact!

“ A Little Book of Mourning” is a heartfelt and profound exploration of grief, resilience, and the enduring power of love. Katherine takes readers by the hand and walks them through the unthinkable — the loss of her daughter — in a narrative that is as raw as it is beautiful. Each page - each essay - each song feels like a window into her soul, where sorrow and hope intertwine to create a story that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
