Publisher's summary

A sweeping, evocative short story that spans decades, A Love Like This is a captivating tale of love and self-discovery from award-winning Nigerian author Abubakar Adam Ibrahim.

Yarima Lalo believes he has been murdered twice before. The cause? Love. To make sense of these vivid memories he cannot shake, he travels from Abuja to Kano with his new friend and love interest Aziza to meet an old woman who he might have known in a past life. She is skeptical at first - and hesitant to revisit painful memories of her own - but together, they dig deeper and deeper into the past, piecing together a shared history with ripple effects that could shape Lalo’s future.

Confusing: Is this an excerpt of a larger story?

I had to listen to this short story twice to understand that there were references to events that took place outside the story. It makes me wonder if perhaps this is an excerpt of a larger story. Also, there was A male and a female reader, which would make sense if in the larger story we are following two separate interwoven storiesThe storyline was intriguing.

Taken Back

I really loved the story, bitter sweet love, lose, and the deep yearning of "What if and If only".

A Complex Tale ...

I had to play back some parts to grasp the fullness of this mesmerizing story. I loved the fantastic past and present elements and the mystical, magical take on reincarnation. A MUST READ!

Loved it, too short!

I wish I could have gone on an adventure with these two. Someone should turn this into a TV series. This book is the first season. Finding [the bad guy] could be the second season. As long as it’s set in West Africa with an African cast.

Beautiful and Compelling

I was compelled to keep reading from the beginning and I did not want the story to end. I don’t want to be responsible for any spoilers so I will just say I loved this complicated little story.
