About this listen

An instant New York Times best seller

“I absolutely loved Invisible Girl - Lisa Jewell has a way of combining furiously twisty, utterly gripping plots with wonderfully rich characterization - she has such compassion for her characters, and we feel we know them utterly.... A triumph!” (Lucy Foley, New York Times best-selling author)

The number one New York Times best-selling author of Then She Was Gone returns with an intricate thriller about a young woman’s disappearance and a group of strangers whose lives intersect in its wake.

Young Saffyre Maddox spent three years under the care of renowned child psychologist Roan Fours. When Dr. Fours decides their sessions should end, Saffyre feels abandoned. She begins looking for ways to connect with him, from waiting outside his office to walking through his neighborhood late at night. She soon learns more than she ever wanted to about Roan and his deceptively perfect family life. On a chilly Valentine’s night, Saffyre will disappear, taking any secrets she has learned with her.

Owen Pick’s life is falling apart. In his 30s and living in his aunt’s spare bedroom, he has just been suspended from his job as a teacher after accusations of sexual misconduct - accusations he strongly denies. Searching for professional advice online, he is inadvertently sucked into the dark world of incel forums, where he meets a charismatic and mysterious figure. Owen lives across the street from the Fours family. The Fours have a bad feeling about their neighbor; Owen is a bit creepy and suspect, and their teenaged daughter swears he followed her home from the train station one night.

Could Owen be responsible? What happened to the beautiful missing Saffyre, and does her disappearance truly connect them all?

Evocative, vivid, and unpauseable, Lisa Jewell’s latest thriller is another “haunting, atmospheric, stay-up-way-too-late read” (Megan Miranda, New York Times best-selling author).

Great story

I think this audio book is my favorite so far of all the Lisa Jewell stories. I liked the narration of Owen read by a male instead of a woman reading and lowering her voice to sound like a man. The narration of Sapphire was excellent as she told the story from a young girls point of view. Kate was read as a woman struggling to deal with her family and all the strange things happening around her.

One of her better books

I fell in love with Jewell’s writing when I read Then She Was Gone and I Found You. I’ve read two others that I was not a fan of but this brought me back. I really liked this book and LOVED the narrators. I usually really dislike male narrators but Connors narration was so well done!

Still one of my favorite authors

Lisa Jewel does it again... she creates so much intrigue with completely relatable characters. Although a bit slow to capture me, once I was hooked, I couldn’t stop listening. The performance also added to the enrapturing experience.

Absolutely loved it

I LOVED this story. I consume a lot of mystery/thriller novels, and Invisible Girl is exceptional. There are so many layers to this story and the characters are all complex and feel completely 3 dimensional. The narration was great and illustrated each character perfectly. I cannot say enough good things about Invisible Girl and I can’t wait to read more from this author

A great listen

The story has a great hook and was fast paced and allowed the tension to build steadily. I liked the characters, they are very new and different from any book I’ve read and I really liked that there were different performers. They were all very good and distinct and it added so much to the experience.

Great Book Overall

I had one gasp moment but it wasnt edge of your seat thriller. I liked the main characters strong female choices at points in the book. She really developed. The wife was meh. I was interested in Owens character and thought process. I would recommend for a light thriller.

Slow Start

It was difficult to listen in the first several chapters because it starts off slow. I was chapters deep before it caught my attention. I’m glad I finished it because it does get interesting and the ending took me by surprise.
