About this listen

He’s up to his eyeballs in hot water, and he thinks he’s taking a bubble bath!

A routine case of industrial espionage pitches hardboiled PI Alexander Southerland headlong into a maelstrom of shadowy political intrigue and deadly supernatural mayhem - not to mention some malevolent owls and the mysterious "boy who talks backwards"! After his exposure of a white-collar thief has harrowing consequences, a guilt-ridden and disconsolate Southerland roams the mean streets and dark alleys of Yerba City seeking to uncover a secret so stunning - so staggering - that just knowing it could unravel the bonds that keep the social order from dissolving into chaos!

What a Joy!

This is one of the best book series I have had the pleasure of reading...and I'm waiting with excitement for the completion of Book 5. Mr. Lumsden, thank you for introducing us to Alex Southerland! Thank you for amazing stories and witty, funny, serious and diverse characters of all stripes, creatures and winds! It is getting harder and harder to find consistently great book series. This one has hit the mark. P.S. I enamored with Duffy P. Weber's voice! THE BEST choice in narrator for this series, period!

Four for Four

If you've been a fan of the previous 3 books this one is worth your time. Personally book 2 , A Witch Walks into my Office, is still my favorite. I think it's done the best job of still being a solid detective story along with everything else. The narrator continues to do a fantastic job. I eagerly awaited the release of this book and I'll be doing the same for book 5.

A Hoot!

Non-spoiler version: Douglas Lumsden has written another noir urban fantasy GEM!

A Night Owl Slips into a Diner being the 4th book in the Alexander Southerland P.I. Series, it is a tad hard going into details without spoilers.

So, to summarize a bit, this book has industrial espionage, secretive government agencies, damaged beast mobiles, and otherworldly spirits.

Duffy P. Weber does bang-up job with the narration.

Give it a go! DRmz 5-19-22
