Publisher's summary

A murder and a missing book have Addie Greyborne running around her Massachusetts town trying to read the clues....

January isn't the season for the seaside, but the big Fire and Ice festival is keeping bookstore owner Addie busy. Amid the plans for a fireworks display and an ice-carving competition, she's also dog sitting for a friend in the hospital. When Addie goes to her friend's house to gather supplies, she notices an interesting item on the nightstand that belongs to her shop assistant, Paige: a very valuable copy of the beloved children's book The Secret Garden.

But Addie's blood runs cold when she finds something else: a dead body behind the bakery next door to her shop. Martha, the bakery owner, has no alibi - and has been seen in a heated argument with the victim. And the next thing Addie knows, that first edition has gone missing. Is there a connection between the body and the treasured tome? If there is, it's up to Addie to find a killer with a motive as hidden as Frances Hodgson Burnett's famous garden....

loving this series

I started with the first book and I haven't been able to stop. I just finished the 5th book and moving on to the next. The characters just pull you in and you can't wait to see what happens. I'm so glad I ran across this series.

The story was engaging, but the narration was not.

Not keen on the narrator; i found the deliberate tempo with no inflections when performing the background story difficult to listen to, though she did a good job on the young female voices.

Enjoye story but cousin is getting to be irritatin

The setting and plotting of story is very interesting however the way that she lets her cousin manipulate her is getting to be irritating. But the overall story is good and I would recommend it.

I LOVE ADDIE

I HAVE SO ENJOYED WATCHING ADDIE SETTLE INTO HER HOME. LAUREN ELLIOTT IS A TALENT WHO DRAWS YOU INTO HER STORY AND HER CHARACTERS. THE READER FEELS WHAT THEY FEEL, GOOD OR BAD, SAD OR HAPPY, AND SO ON. YES, IT IS A COZY, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT IS FLAT AND WITHOUT EMOTION. THIS SERIES RUNS THE GAMUT OF EMOTIONS. IT IS WHAT MAKES THESE CHARACTERS SO RELATABLE. THIS BOOK WAS NO EXCEPTION, BUT THE UNDERLYING FEEL THROUGHOUT THIS BOOK WAS STRENGTH, LOVE, AND ACCEPTANCE. I LOVED IT, AND I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS. NOW COMES THE HARD PART - WAITING FOR THE NEXT BOOK.
