About this listen

2018 RITA award-winning author!

From the author Sarah MacLean calls "a charming, clever, and engaging storyteller" comes the next regency romance in the witty and sexy Devils of Dover series!

Baron. Physician. Smuggler. Harland Hayward is living a double life as an aristocrat by day and a criminal by night. As a doctor, Harland has the perfect cover to appear in odd places at all hours, a cover he uses to his advantage. He's chosen this life to save his family from financial ruin, but he draws the line at taking advantage of the honest and trustworthy Katherine Wright.

Katherine thought she was done smuggling. Having finally convinced her ailing father and injured brother to abandon their criminal pursuits, she's returned to England to help them escape to a new life - once she helps them fulfill their last contract. And that means working with Hayward, even when her instincts tell her that becoming his ally may be a risk to her heart - as well as her life.

Good but not Bowen’s best

I enjoyed this book, although I liked the first two in this Dover series more. The heroine was annoying in her early refusal to see anything good in the hero. It really went on way too long. Some of the words used by characters who were not aristocrats, like “bizarre” and “intransigence “, just were not in keeping with the character’s station. Also there were holes in the story. Having said that, I enjoyed the book and the romance and felt her writing style and Ashford McNabb’s super narration carried it enough to be more than worth my time.

Good Story, Excellent Narration

This was a good story. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I enjoyed Harland and Katherine together, they made a great couple, they had good chemistry it wasn't forced at all. It felt real and genuine, they got to know each other throughout the book. So that was a bonus. There were a couple steamy sex scenes, not erotica not rated G, they could have been a bit shorter but they were well written.

The story line and plot was good. I really enjoyed the smugglers and surgeons plot. Very good back stories. I really like Kelly Bowen's writing style. My all time favorite Kelly Bowen book is still A Duke of My Heart, hands down the best!

As for the narration, I love Ashford McNab so this was a double bonus, great author and great narrator. Ashford does such a great job on the men's voices. She reads with emotion and everyone gets their own distinct voice. She has a great reading voice too.

Best of the 3 book series

Loved the story, characters and narrator. It engaged me all the way through. I especially like that the underworld character, King, was brought into this series. Like his character from other books.

I love this series

The characters are well written and interesting. Different stories than the regular love stories. I have already listened to the series twice and I’m sure i will cycle back to it again. I like Ashford McNab’s narrations and have listened to her in other books as well. I think the three books were well worth my credits, which is saying something since I have the romance package as well and can listen to many books for free.

A Great Conclusion for the Hayward Siblings

While I had already guessed big brother's big secret and his overall wokeness is hinted at in the previous books, I really enjoyed how Harland's character was given even more depth and layers in A Rogue By Night. But more than anything, I loved Katherine. Just like Clara and Rose before her, she is fiercely independent, intelligent, and feminist to the core. She was willing to do what was necessary to care for her family, stood up for herself, acknowledged and embraced her emotions, and accepted love when it was offered to her. Honestly, out of the 3 heroines, she may be my favorite. I truly enjoyed Harland as well. My only issue with this book is the relatively abrupt ending. I would kill for an epilogue or a few more pages or sentences even! But all in all, A Rogue By Night was a great wrap up for the Hayward siblings.

Enjoyed this series, sad it is over. Wish there was another book with all of the characters of the six books

a tad slow

This was a struggle to finish and disappointing as I loved all the others. The leading characters were quite boring to put it mildly. Secondary characters were much better.
