An Apple Must Listen Audiobook for September!

A lady must have money and an army of her own if she is to win a revolution—but first, she must pit her wits against the wiles of an irresistible rogue bent on wrecking her plans…and her heart.

Lady Lucie is fuming. She and her band of Oxford suffragists have finally scraped together enough capital to control one of London’s major publishing houses, with one purpose: to use it in a coup against Parliament. But who could have predicted that the one person standing between her and success is her old nemesis and London’s undisputed lord of sin, Lord Ballentine? Or that he would be willing to hand over the reins for an outrageous price—a night in her bed.

Lucie tempts Tristan like no other woman, burning him up with her fierceness and determination every time they clash. But as their battle of wills and words fans the flames of long-smoldering devotion, the silver-tongued seducer runs the risk of becoming caught in his own snare.

As Lucie tries to out-maneuver Tristan in the boardroom and the bedchamber, she soon discovers there’s truth in what the poets say: all is fair in love and war…

"Rich with subplot, historical detail and beautifully descriptive writing that keeps the pages turning until the delightfully unconventional happy ending."—NPR

Critic reviews

“A swoonworthy romance fueled by electric chemistry.”—Chanel Cleeton, New York Times bestselling author

"Dunmore creates pure magic with this charming, romantic novel featuring a strong, stubborn heroine and a sexy, slightly-broken hero. Full of romance, humor, and heart, all revolving around the fascinating dynamics of the suffragist movement, it’s one of my favorite novels of 2020!”—Jennifer Probst, New York Times bestselling author

"There are few things I love more than a committed rogue…and better yet, his delicious comeuppance at the hands of the only woman who could ever possibly tame him! What a marvelous ride!"—Megan Crane, USA Today bestselling author

SLOW, COMPREHENSIVE, AND WELL WRITTEN

I did struggle for the first half of this book because I felt it was encumbered with so much details that were NOT of any interest. I understand that to an author the publishing world is fascinating, and the desire to share it with us maybe more than what we need. This was the case for me with this novel. Nonetheless, Evie Dunmore is brilliant, and to ignore her efforts is a mistake. In the end, one receives a beautiful work of art in this novel.
I am perplexed by the question of whether Tristan who was inspired by Oscar Wilde was bisexual or not. I believe that is what the author wanted to make know; and, I appreciate her particular effort to provide an unusual hero in the historical romance literature.

Amazing series

Evie Dunmore is a very special writer
I thoroughly enjoyed both books in this series
I have to be honest I usually pick the books I listen to by the narrators name
I have a short list of great narrators and Elizabeth jasicki is among the best .
Both together are amazing
So looking forward to more Dunmore !!!!

OH MY! WHAT HAS LUCY DONE?

Loved the second book full of twists and turns. Now that Annabelle has married her Duke, the "Shrew's" life turns upside down making her story seem off kilter...at first. However, as a formidable woman on a mission, Lucy gets her cake and eats it too. Love this story. Now on to the next. :)

The best Evie has written yet

I love this book so much! I loved living in this world. This book was even better than Bringing Down the Duke, because I relate so intensely with Lucy. The characters in this book have so much to them. Lucy is anything but a flimsy female protagonist, written exclusively for the dashing romantic interest to act upon, which is the case for so many romance novels. Also, the smut in this book is top tier. I hope to read many more works from Dunmore.

Absolutely Astounding

A startlingly beautiful romance set in Victorian England at a time when expansion of the Empire was paramount and all of a woman's property, because of The Married Women's Property Act, became her husband's upon marriage. That Lucy and Tristan triumph in spite of conniving relatives and their own foibles is incredibly satisfying. This is the second book in Evie Dunmore's "A League of Extraordinary Women" series and the first book is also amazing. Extraordinary is a word I'd like to use for the narrator. Elizabeth Jasicki is just simply wonderful!

Beautiful story and characters! I'm in love with T

This a a fantastic historical romance, even better than BDTD. Lucie is a formidable heroine with a vulnerable, soft side. But the star of the show is Tristan. An absolutely beautiful man, with a total heart of gold. He wins Lucie's - and my!- heart with the growth he grows through to be with her. The narrator is perfect, and I can't wait to hear the next two in this series.
