About this listen

Following a harrowing disappearance, a woman returns home to her family—and a life-changing secret in a powerful novel about betrayal, resilience, and love’s unbreakable bonds.

After fifteen years in captivity, Nova Lefleur is free, back home, and reunited with her Louisiana family. Through her ordeal, she never forgot them. They never forgot her either. But things have changed since Nova’s been gone.

Nova and her encouraging seventeen-year-old daughter, Skye, are getting to know each other for the first time. Her husband, Quinton, is rebuilding a relationship with a wife he thought was gone forever. And Nova’s sister, Leah, is overjoyed—and overwhelmed.

Leah shares a secret with Quinton neither can bear to tell the woman they cherish. Not yet. Five years ago, bonding over grief and finding a reason to smile again, Quinton and Leah were married. When it’s time for the truth to come out, they could lose Nova all over again.

As Nova is eased back into a life both familiar and unfamiliar, she and her family must confront their deepest fears, the choices they made, and the choices to come that will reshape each of their lives forever.

Surprisingly well-thought out. I’m a detail girl. So it wasn’t until towards the last third of this book that I realized without going dark the author covered and resolved all the main character’s issues. It was brilliantly done and brought out all the feels and tears! Also at the beginning when I said surprisingly well-thought out, it wasn’t to shade, but to give accolades for connecting all the dots in a clean way.

I Luv this book!

After completing this book I realized why there are so many positive reviews. This book was amazing from start to finish and I didn’t want to put it down until I heard the entire story. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this journey into a subject I know nothing about, thankfully, that's kidnapping and PTSD. Well-done by the author.

The premise of the book was ok but the writing was juvenile and the book took forever to get somewhere

Leah and the husband very selfish especially the way they forget liah ain't her mother nova is. I ask did they even bothered serching forher at all and instead decided to live happily with each other on purpose. nova sacrificed so much especially coming home after 15yrs kidnapped you'll think her family and everyone else felt more empathy towards her and her living situation it's like she had to sacrifice so much more. me I would've been better of still kidnapped or just hope to died then to come back to such family drama. I hated Liam her mother & her husband they all lied and acted as if it's normal ok that her sister took over her life. it's not her sister shouldn't have fell or married her missing sister whom has not been proven dead yet years later she marries him like you had so many years to love another why it had to be her sister husband 10 years later like seriously I hated them for it ill definitely make them suffer if it was me .

no thanks

I was hooked on the beginning of this book and had high hopes for it to be a sensational rekindling faith kind of story. The middle and the end of the book dragged on.

Strong beginning
