Expertly crafted storytelling

Those that are familiar with Thillet’s work know that they are in for a captivating journey into depths limited only by ones own imagination. I found myself dreamily entranced from the moment I was presented with the awe-Inspiring artwork. The narration is world-class and Tracy Collier expertly haunts the listener with her beautiful portrayal of the fantastical underwater creatures. The writing is excellently crafted with each word picked perfectly. The result is tremendously engrossing storytelling. I have rapidly become a fan and hope for a very lengthy future release. 5/5

Dark but with some good imagery

I’m not sure a child because it’s very dark, and rather depressing. I liked it because of the poetic aspect. The imagery was wonderful. I was able to really visualize what the author was saying. There were some clunky bits of sentence structure, and I’m not sure what the point of those were, unless the author was going for a more old-fashioned approach maybe?

Flawless Old Style Children's Magic

National Geographic tells us: "The lowly krill averages only about two inches in length, but it represents a giant-sized link in the global food chain. These small, shrimp-like crustaceans are essentially the fuel that runs the engine of the Earth’s marine ecosystems." Krill feed on phytoplankton, microscopic, single-celled plants that float near the sea’s surface and live off carbon dioxide and the sun’s rays. They in turn are the main staple in the diets of literally hundreds of different animals, from fish, to birds, to baleen whales. Now these were facts I did not know. This book is an opportunity to teach our children science in a special fun way. But it is so much more than that......

Within each of Hektor Thillet's incredible tales is the magic of old time stories that I have often all but forgotten in the rush of life and that came flooding back as I hung off every word of this book with its excellent narration by Tracy Collier. I thought I might have to listen to this book twice to do justice to a review but instead every word resonated clearly in my heart and there was no need to repeat any aspect except to plan enjoy it again the next time my day needs some magic. A good narrator allows you to forget everything but the words and that is the gift Tracy offers to the listener.

If there is any message that our children need to hear after the global experiences of the past 18 months it is that light comes out of darkness - out of even the darkest dark. To be able to survive, thrive and grow we need to learn to listen and trust in a new way and consciously draw energy from every source of life on our amazing planet. As we gain an awareness of our unique call and contribution in the world we are able to rise up in our own eyes and absorb the beauty and life force around us. With insight and connection we are able to perceive the wonder that has always been close, but eluded us. We rest and dance in the knowledge that we are an integral part of that incredible cosmos and we are able to embrace our true purpose with joy. Loss and grey meaningless shadow are thus transformed into a stunning array of colours and light.

I encourage you, take a moment in your busy day and enjoy this treasure for yourself or with your family.

Fabulous Tale with Important Lesson

A Story about a Krill is a great tale about purpose and perspective. Even though it is aimed at children, the lesson is relevant to all ages and important to those growing up while their values and views are being established in their personalities.

The story is captivating and leads the listener to a reflection about finding the light on the other side of darkness and surviving despite challenging circumstances.

I really enjoyed its poetic aspect and was positively surprised and glad about the way the story ends.

Shout out to Tracy, the narrator, who beautifully narrated the fabulous story created by Thillet.

A fascinating and creative story about finding one's purpose and fulfillment of life. At times, we may feel small or insignificant but we are not looking at the big picture. We all have a place and a purpose. The second message is it always benefits to listen. Through listening, we may discover the answers we seek! Beautifully written with a breathtaking narration!!

dark fairytale about finding your place

finished this book last week but didn't do a review because I couldn't think of what to write that wasn't just explaining the story

I liked the story and the narration. I think it's aimed at older children, who are starting to realise that it's a big world and it's all a bit intimidating, not younger ones who still have awesome optimism and can conquer the world.

I like the authors format and look forward to his future work.

Fantastic storytelling

I also listened to the author's previous tale, The King of Nothing, and really enjoyed both. They are both in the shape of a standard allegory or fairytale, but with genuinely surprising (and often dark) twists. And, when you least expect it, he sneaks in a moral. The storytelling in impeccable. Great narrator too. Recommend!
