Sarah Corbett Lynch
About this listen
At approximately 3.15 a.m. on 2 August 2015, eight-year-old Irish girl Sarah Corbett Lynch was lifted from her bed by a Davidson County police officer and carried downstairs, shielded from the chaos that had broken out around her.
Hours passed before Sarah learned that her beloved father Jason was dead. And the people who killed him were Sarah's stepmother Molly Martens and her father Tom.
Now Sarah tells her story for the first time and reveals the startling truth of life behind closed doors in her family's suburban North Carolina home.
Sarah recalls the weeks and months leading up to that night in August, and the use of manipulation and gaslighting by Molly Martens - the only mother she had ever known. She describes the traumatic years after her father's death as she and her brother Jack fought for justice from the safety of their new loving home in Limerick, Ireland, with Jason's family.
A Time for Truth is a unique testimony of devastation, survival and hope, against the odds.©2025 Sarah Corbett Lynch (P)2025 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

On the day she was murdered, Myrtle Underwood Cook boasted to local authorities about new evidence of a major bootlegging ring operating out of the Rock Island train depot behind her house in a small town in eastern Iowa. Then, as she sat at her window sewing, she took a single slug through the heart. She was president of the local temperance union; her killing made the front page of the New York Times. The next day her funeral made national news due to the eerie presence of a small army from the Ku Klux Klan, its members, donned in full regalia, drawn from three surrounding states.

Fear was the unacknowledged specter haunting the streets of London during the Second World War; fear not only of death from the German bombers circling above, but of violence at the hands of fellow Londoners in the streets below. Mass displacement, the anonymity of shelters, and the bomb-scarred landscape offered unprecedented opportunities for violent crime. In this absorbing, sometimes shocking account, Amy Helen Bell uncovers the hidden stories of murder and violence that were rife in wartime London.

Viola MacMillan had it all: success, money, and respect. Influence, even. But in 1964, after three decades in the mining industry, one of the most fascinating women in Canadian business history was the central character in one of the country's most famous stock scandals. MacMillan, who started out as a prospector in the '30s, had developed lucrative mines and put together big deals. But she still wanted "a major discovery." Early in July 1964, shares in Windfall Oil and Mines, a company she and her husband controlled, traded for around 56 cents. Then one day, the stock took off.

Story
Houston, Texas, in the early 1970s was an exciting place—the home of NASA, the city of the future. But a string of more than two dozen missing teenage boys hinted at a dark undercurrent that would go ignored for too long. While their siblings and friends wondered where they had gone, the Houston police department dismissed them as runaways, fleeing the Vietnam draft or conservative parents, likely looking to get high and join the counterculture.

Story
We know what it was like to live in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022, the day of the cold-blooded killings. We know what the local police and FBI did right. And what they did wrong. We’ve learned so much about the four heartbroken families—the Mogens, Goncalves, Kernodles, and Chapins. And we have the backstory for Bryan Kohberger, brilliant grad student, loner, apparent incel. Now you are the jury. The evidence is in.

Job Well Done!
Wow! What an amazing job of telling your story. I live in Davidson County, NC and have followed your dad’s story from the beginning. I just know that your dad is so proud of you and for standing up for him and your family. I wish you well.

A Heart-Wrenching and Eye-Opening Story
Sarah Corbett Lynch’s story is both heartbreaking and deeply inspiring. Listening to her journey, told with raw honesty and strength, was an emotional experience that stayed with me long after I finished the book. Her resilience in the face of unimaginable loss and betrayal is truly remarkable.
Beyond her personal struggle, the book also highlights the devastating ways the judicial system failed her, her brother, and her father—allowing manipulation and power to overshadow justice. The influence of those willing to distort the truth adds another chilling layer to the story.
The narration brings her words to life in a way that makes you feel every moment of fear, confusion, and, ultimately, hope. It’s a powerful reminder of a child’s need for safety and the heartbreaking consequences of losing it.
This is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates stories of survival, courage, and the unsettling reality of how power can shape justice. Highly recommend!

Incredible
As a lifeguard at meadowlands in 2014 , I watched certain behaviors that summer unfold that I now look back on after hearing Sarah’s book and understand what was really happening. She depicted Molly and her behaviors perfectly. I was able to see everything she described vividly through her writings.
