About this listen

One last trip before the baby gets here…
That’s all the getaway is meant to be.
Then the guests arrive.

When Calvin and Sadie decide to spend their babymoon in a remote cabin in the snowy mountains before their first child is due, it’s supposed to be a chance for them to connect, relax, and celebrate their future.

Before the vacation even gets started, shocking news leaves the couple reeling. To make matters worse, their arrival at the rental is marked by strange behavior from the homeowners, and Sadie can’t shake the paranoia that she’s being watched.

When another revelation comes to light that’s so distressing it cracks the stable foundation Calvin and Sadie once stood on, everything changes.

Suddenly unable to decide whom to trust and how to move forward, the getaway takes a terrifying turn. Just how safe are they up in the mountains all alone? Someone knows their location, and if the couple can’t discover the truth before it’s too late, their last trip before the baby arrives might just be their last trip… ever.

The secrets, lies, and betrayals hidden in this sinister domestic thriller from million-copy bestselling author Kiersten Modglin will chill you to your core.

*A Twisty Thriller that Will Leave You Breathless!*

*5/5 Stars*

I just finished reading "The Last Trip" by Kiersten Modglin, and I'm still reeling from the experience. First and foremost, I want to thank Kiersten for including LGBT representation in her book. It's so refreshing to see authors actively working to make their stories more inclusive.

Now, onto the review...

I was hooked from the very first page. Kiersten dropped a bombshell on us within the first 4 pages, and I was like, "Wait, what?!". The twist was expertly done, and I love how it completely flipped my expectations on their head.

What I appreciate most about Kiersten's writing is how she tackles the trope of the "crazy" partner. For too long, women have been stereotyped as the obsessive ones in relationships. But Kiersten turns this on its head, showing us that men can be just as crazy, controlling, and manipulative.

The way she weaves together the narrative, slowly revealing the truth about the characters and their relationships, is pure mastery. I was on the edge of my seat, guessing and second-guessing myself until the very end.

Overall, "The Last Trip" is a gripping, twisty thriller that will keep you up all night. Kiersten Modglin is a talented author who is not afraid to push boundaries and challenge her readers. I'm so glad I took a chance on this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good thriller.

Great Twists

I never saw them (twists) coming! I love when KM is able to completely blow all expectations as she does once again in this book. The characters are so interesting and the secrets are many. Loved the duplicity and the increasing angst and suspicion. Very much enjoyed listening to this book.

Abigail Reno and Jay Myers were excellent at narrating for this book. The unique voices portrayed added depth to KM’s incredible writing.

A jaw dropping ending

Kiersten Modglin writes a terrific story which engrosses the reader while weaving in twists and turns. Add to that a jaw dropping ending and you are served an unputdownable read.

Sadie is pregnant with her fiancé’s baby and looking forward to a trip they’ll take that will serve as their baby Moon. Calvin, the fiancé is thrilled at the prospect of having the baby and the couple has mutually decided to wait until after the child’s birth marry. Before the couple embark on their “vacation“ Calvin reveals he’s been contacted by a daughter whose birth he was not aware a liaison he had in high school resulted in the birth of his daughter, and he was not made aware of the situation. Sadie, although surprised by the revelation, ask Calvin to invite her to their Baby Moon cabin.

Without giving away the twists, some of which were a little far-fetched, suffice to say it’s a quick and entertaining read. I listened to the book on Audible where the narration was well acted.
