Publisher's summary

What if your boss wanted you to spy...on the U.S. government?

There is no job description and the job isn't advertised anywhere, not even on the Job Board at Georgetown Law. But Thaddeus Murfee just graduated from law school and has $200 left from his student loan. He is so broke he has to borrow his roommate's suit for his first job interview. While he is so desperate to earn rent and food money, he fails to nail down exactly what it is he'll be doing.

They tell him a U.S. Attorney is selling government secrets...But is he, really?

Thaddeus Murfee likes his new boss, the U.S. Attorney. Good things happen and gifts flow his way. What's not to like? The government lawyer even has a daughter he wants Thaddeus to meet. Were the people who hired him just totally wrong about the guy selling government secrets? What proof do they actually have of this serious accusation?

Meet the foreign agents who will pay top dollar for U.S. war plans...

This thrilling collection of good-lawyers/bad-lawyers will keep you up late at night. Beware: you might show up late for work. But when you get to work you just might find everyone talking about this new, exciting romp through the backstreets of Washington, D.C. On one side, a new, innocent lawyer just out of school. On the other side, the full force and might of the U.S. government. Watch from your front-row seat as it plays out and careers are built and ruined while lives are won and lost.

Good story

Not a fan of the narrators voice. Makes it hard to listen. Might just read the next books in the series instead of listening

The start of something better

Narrated very well. Having read two other of the Thadeus series I thought this one was less dramatic. Entertaining, yes, riveting, not as much.

Preposterous.

Story was preposterous. New young lawyer makes many mistakes and those around him tolerate him. Humor was in the unbelievabilty.

Fiction REQUIRES the ability to suspend disbelief!

This book is about a young lawyer whose very first trial, taken immediately after passing the bar exam, is a capital case being fought against all of the forces of the US Justice Department and a worthless old judge. Realistic? Not even close! The Young Lawyer's Story is Book 1 in the 12 novel Thaddeus Murfee legal thriller series. It is the only one currently available in audio format. Most of author John Ellsworth's Michael Gresham series novels are available in audio format. All are excellent but suffer from poor narration by Stephen Hoye. Adam Verner, a consistently outstanding narrator, narrates this novel.

While A Young Lawyer's Story is laughably implausible it is a fun and worthwhile listen.

Great Read.

Could not stop listening and so listened to the entire book in one uninterrupted session. Taunt, fast paced and extremely enjoyable. Then I bought book 2 of this series. Can not wait to listen to that one as well.

I was expecting more thrill

I wanted to get through it to see if it was any better but the courtroom scenes were just so awful specially written by a former lawyer .

Bland

Sorry I spent any time on this. I kept hoping it would get better. How could anyone in these times be so naive and bumbling? Unbelievable. Insulting, almost.
