About this listen

From the best-selling author of The Rules of Supervillainy.

Agent G, now going by the name Case, thought he'd won. He'd exposed his former employers, shared black technology with the world, and killed the man who'd started it all.

Unfortunately, history slows for no man. After a volcanic eruption decimates the United States, G spends the next decade witnessing humanity rebuild itself into a corporate-run dystopia.

Preferring to the be the boot rather than the ant, Case has become a powerful executive in the new cyberpunk world. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he's immune to his past. Contacted by the only woman he ever loved, Case finds himself, once more, embroiled in a conspiracy to take what little the public has left. Now, he has to decide whether to save what remains of the world or rule it.

Third times the charm!

Case (aka Agent G) is back. The world might have changed (thanks to the cataclysm that rocked the world at the end of the last book) but for Case, it's business as usual ...people lying to him and using him. Seriously, is there anyone this poor guy can trust. Another fantastic chapter ion the Agent G saga. Can't wait to see what CT Phipps throws next at Case.

It took me a while but it was worth it.

The story really took some doing for me to get through. This type of story is just not my usual read. It was well written and flowed very well. The characters were great. The internal conflict that G had regarding Marissa was awesome. I found myself yelling at him every time he would want to give her a pass. I will admit that I am happy with the ending.

I am looking forward to see where things may go now that issue is resolved.

Agent G to the Resue

As if corporations are not enough of a villain, now natural disasters follow. Agent G and his friends (loosely) are at it again to save the world.

Fabulous series by C.T. Phipps and narrated by the incomparable Jeffrey Kafer. Can't wait for the next one.

Another great sequel

A third and hopefully not last installment to G and his life or should I say his troubles?
From the first book through third, was a good ride that not only made you want to fear technically and fathom what it’d bring us, but also excited to want to try it for yourself. The perfect narrator for the book (the proper form was done by keeping the same narrator throughout the series)

Charles did a fantastic job that I’m glad I picked up, if you’re looking for a series that will keep you interested and can see a future that’s not only scary but possible. Seeing a sex driven spy who’s a James Bond mirror but who’s life is less than perfect. Bravo and until next time.

G is back!

I love the Agent G series! Agent G, now Case Gordon, is a cyborg assassin. As with the rest of the series, this book is non stop action and packed with laughs as well. Phipps even slips in a few references to his other books including my favorite, Cthulhu Armageddon! (need more of that one by the way) Great narration by Jeffrey Kafer!

Witty, exciting, action packed!

Assassin
(Agent G #3)
by C.T. Phipps
Narrated by Jeffrey Kafer
This is a book I requested and the review is voluntary. This really shows how Phipps shines! An action packed sci-fi adventure that has plenty of great characters, terrific plot, unpredictable, and so many witty comments I have to slow my reading down to keep up with them! So much wit, snark, and funny gems sneak up out of the blue causing smiles and giggles constantly! I really love this series! Most of his books are like this!
With Kafer as narrator, who can pull off this dry wit like no one else, it is a perfect blend! Just what I needed to listen to as the stress of the election looms!
I recommend this to all sci-fi fans, someone looking for something different, and those looking to relax and smile!

Cyberpunk and action packed

I really enjoyed the first two Agent G books, but this third instalment is where things really take off. Case Gordan has become his own person (still questioning himself of course, but don’t we all), the Shadow-run like world is fantastic, and it’s full of intrigue and action! There’s nothing to not love in this book. Phipps does future geek references well with made up new movies/books/actors but it still has a lot of his usual geek references from present day that make me smile. The comedy is more subdued in this book than some of his other books, which seems more fitting for Case, but there’s definitely still bits and one-liners that had me laughing.

Jeffery Kafer is, of course, amazing.

Here’s hoping this will be a long running series as I want more of Case Gordan stories.

Fitting third book

I really like how CT Phipps has brought this series from a world much like our own to a world where the secret technology is now commonplace and everywhere. It felt natural and the noir type storyline fit nicely into it. I don’t know if this is a last book, and I expect not, but it was self contained and built well off of the first two. There had been a sizeable gap between 2 and 3 for me, but I knew right where I was, who was talking and what their deal was. Wholly a solid book.

New Cyberpunkish World for Agent G

As book 3 in this series, I suggest you enjoy the first 2 books before jumping into this book.

Time has passed since the end of book 2 (~15 years) saw some magnificent tech released to the world at large plus a massive volcanic eruption. It’s now a different world. World governments have suffered, or fallen, and the common people continue to struggle on. Luckily for Agent G, or Case, he has managed to stay on top with his independent wealth, abilities, and blackmail material.

Case’s love life is still a mess, mostly because of his choices, innate personality, and the people he chooses to associate with. In walks Marissa with an offer he just can’t say No to, even if he wants to. You never know for sure who is a traitor or not, and that adds to Case’s well-earned paranoia.

While Case leads the security department of the Atlas Corp, working with his ex-lovers Agent S and Lucita hasn’t uncomplicated his life. I did really like how Case teamed up with Claire, who is associated with a sometimes radical group, as they hunt for a super secret item. Meanwhile a new-ish villain arises, Agent A, along with a new big bad threat to humanity.

Full of action and snark, the hits don’t stop coming. Case has plenty to get done and little time to do it in. I especially liked the references to pop culture tucked into every corner of the story. This is one of those series where it’s hard to not like the bad guys as well as the good guys, because, hey, who really is good or evil in this story, right? Nearly everyone is a mix of the two. I ended up really liking the leap forward in time as it gave Case a new cyberpunkian world to play in. Some parts of the backdrop really reminded me of the noire feel to the movie Blade Runner. I’m very much looking forward to where this series will go from here. 5/5 stars.

Narration: Jeffrey Kafer has continued to be the voice of Agent G/Case. I love how he has managed to keep all the characters consistent throughout the series (I just finished rereading the first 2 books before dropping into this one). His female voices are done well and I love Case’s no-nonsense voice when he is handing out a bit of coercive violence. The pacing is perfect and there are no tech issues with the recording. 5/5 stars.

I received a free copy of this book. My opinions are 100% my own.

Another good addition to a well-liked series

Agent G is probably my second favorite series from CT. You just can't top his Villainy series. So good. Some time has passed since G took down the organization, or so he though. Things were looking up for the world, but looks can be deceiving. G finds himself in the middle of a worldwide conspiracy that may have dire consequences for everyone. Fast-paced and no nonsense like most of CT's work.
