About this listen

From the world of Rylee Adamson and the Elemental series comes a heroine with nothing to lose and everything to prove....

“My name is Pamela, and I am a witch who has no equal.”

Or so I thought.

It has been three years since the Destroyer sundered our world. The land is longer whole, but broken into pieces, most technology gone, and the continents shattered into an unrecognizable place.

New monsters have risen from the depths, adding danger on top of danger. Through it all, the humans fight to survive as they compete not only with the supernaturals for food and resources, but their own kind as well.

And me? The caravans of humans I pass - they look to me to save them.

Only I am not the witch I once was. Bound by those who fear my power and my bloodline, I’m lucky if I can light a match with my magic, never mind protect anyone but myself.

Now the darkness in me rises, offering me all that I want. Freedom from the chains I wear and the power to make everything right. But, if I embrace the darkness, I will face a cost I could never have imagined....

To finally get to know a little about Pamela is freaking great. Other then me crying at times. It was an awesome book.

Amazing, but feels like it starts in the middle

It’s a little odd for the intro to say “Untitled”, but not terribly off-putting. It feels like it’s starting in the middle of a story and although the backstory is hinted at, it still feels awkward. Not my favorite start to a book. I have read most of the Rylee and Lark books and I know a bit about the backstory because of that, but even with that knowledge I had to check to see if somehow the recording had jumped ahead or something. It just didn’t feel like a smooth start of a new series.
I had to stop and go through the Elemental series. It makes a huge difference and makes this book make a lot more sense. It picks up after Destroyer and is a much smoother story that way.
The narrator does a great job with all of the voices, but I love the voice for Oka the most. Even after reading several of Shannon Mayer’s books, she still continues to surprise me. The story doesn’t feel like a re-hashed version of her other books. Everything is still fresh and new. Her world-building is fantastic! I really enjoy the progression of Pam’s story and how she deals with her struggles. She feels real and relatable. She doesn’t feel like a natural-born hero type character that can’t be beaten. She feels like a typical young-ish, possibly teenage girl, with general life struggles. There just happens to be magic thrown in. Very well-written story overall.
Almost at the end of the book and I’m choking up, then heart swelling with joy, and finally full body shivers and feelings of apprehension. Shannon does an amazing job of drawing out all kinds of feelings from her readers, keeping us hooked and wanting more. I can’t wait to start the next book!

Great new series in the world of Rylee Adamson

This first book picks up with the young witch Pamela, not so young. The world has been turn asunder and a number of years have passed. We follow Pam on her journey and meet some old friends along the way. Great story, highly recommend it.

Fantastic and Amazing!

I have listened to at least 15 books by Shannon Mayer and they have all been wonderful! However, I never dreamed that this storyline would enthrall me like it has but it did! The performance was amazing as well! Bravo! Can we get these books turned into a movie series, please??? The Elemental Series, The Rylee Adamson series and now this one should all be made into movies!

Aimless finds a family

Aimless Witch takes up where Larkspur’s & Rylee’s ends...this book can be enjoyed without having read/listened to the two other series, but if you want to understand the references start with the Rylee Adamson series followed by the Elemental Series (Larkspur). This story has plenty of action, self discovery, and pure entertainment. Love this series already! The narrator did a fantastic job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene!

Another Shannon Mayer series to fall in love with

When a favorite author starts a new series, it can be a scary experience for readers. What if it's not as good as her past books? What if I don't like it? You can put those fears aside with Shannon Mayer.

If you've read the Rylee Adamson series, you've already met Pamela and I promise that you will not want to miss this book! It's truly amazing and will leave you ready for the next book in the series. Buckle up and get ready to fall in love with Shannon Mayer's books all over again!

Khristine Ham does a stellar job narrating this book. She's truly fabulous and I love her English accent.

Witchy Post-Apocalyptic World

I won the audiobook from Mayer herself, and after reading some of her other books and finding they were not quite my cup of tea; I decided to give this one a chance after I had finished some of my other favorite series. I was looking for something new and different; and Mayer definitely delivered. I have not finished the Rylee series, and have not read any of the Elemental series which I know is in the same world, so there could have been more that I picked up on, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The book is dark like so many of Mayer’s books, but it was refreshing not to have something that constantly focused on the sunshine and rainbows. I also enjoyed reading about a witch who constantly faces adversity and how she chooses to either fight through it or rise above it. There were parts that were certainly monotonous and found myself not listening as intently as I do other books, but it did an admirable job of reeling me back in. By the end of the book, I was absolutely hooked, and will be either continuing the series, or figuring out the official reading order I should be using (haha).

Very likable characters and very gripping!

It took a bit of time to get into this story. At first I didn’t connect with the MC Pamala and her familiar Oka. I think I was wanting a little more background on the sundering and why Pamela’s powers were bound. But after a few chapters I found myself devouring the story and loving her strength and ability to adapt and overcome without her magic. I am so glad I purchased this book I loved it and will be starting the next one tomorrow. The narrator is one of my favorites and she really brought the story to life. I highly suggest this book.

Slow but good IF you read the pervious series

Because I had already read All the Rylee series I was able to know what was being referred to throughout this book. I Really recommend the Rylee series. The problem is that this is not entirely a stand alone book and will be problematic for new readers.
