About this listen

Exes. Professional rivals. Just one bed. What could go wrong?

All Jessica has ever wanted is her own happily ever after. But until that happens, she spends her days as a small-time romance writer, penning satisfying Happily Ever Afters to soothe the heartache left by her ex-boyfriend Nick—also a romance writer and now her biggest rival—who has found success writing love stories without happy endings. It’s what he’s good at, after all . . .

So when their professional obligations bring them to a remote inn a few days before Christmas, they’re a little more than peeved, especially when they get trapped sharing a room in a snowstorm. But what’s more fitting for two romantic writers in a slump? Realizing the friction between them might be the only cure for their writer’s block, they decide to turn their frustration into fiction . . . and the pages start flying. But will Jess’s heart soar, too? Nick is the last guy on earth she should love . . . but what if he is really all she wants for Christmas?

Critic reviews

"[With] all the snappy banter of an enemies-to-lovers rom-com . . . Ballard has written another fun and impossible-to-put-down romance with engaging leads. Readers will enjoy the peek behind the curtain at the world of publishing, and the sexual tension between Nick and Jess will keep them turning the pages. The cozy setting and Christmas details make for strong holiday vibes, no matter the season. A short, sweet, and extremely festive romance that will put readers in the holiday spirit."—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

"Spicy . . . Ballard leans into the tropiness of her premise, delivering plenty of forced proximity, second-chance, and enemies-to-lovers antics. . . . [All I Want is You] is short, sweet, and festive.”—Publishers Weekly

"[A] sexy second-chance romance, perfect for the Christmas season."—Library Journal

A fun second-chance holiday romance!

I really liked it!

Jessica is trying to come up with a new book idea and balancing her barista job at the coffee shop when she receives an email from her agent inviting her to present this year's Romance author award to her rival (and ex) Nick Mathews at the upcoming Holiday gala. Jessica hasn’t seen Nick since he broke up with her 5 years ago and broke her heart. She wants to refuse to do it, but her agent says it’s a great opportunity for her career and not doing it isn’t an option.

Jessica barely makes it to the awards gala on time to present the award as she has to weather the beginning of a snow storm on her way. There’s a reservation mix up at the Inn where everyone is staying and Jessica and Nick are forced to interact for the first time since their break-up.

What you’ll find:
Forced proximity
Dual POV
A charming Inn
Being snowed in
One bed
A love of coffee
Past secrets
A drinking/honesty game
Second chance at love
Great banter!
Holiday traditions

I love a good dual POV and getting Nick and Jessica’s stories endeared me to both! The story pulled me in immediately and I was unable to put it down!

Romance content: 3-4 open door scenes and language
