Publisher's summary

Together in one collection—all three books in the Almost a Dragon YA urban-fantasy trilogy, plus the prequel novella!

My name is Isobel Drake. And I have a dangerous secret.

I'm a half-human, half-dragon hybrid hiding in plain sight in the humans-only city of Yerba Buena. There are others like me, pretending to be fully human, in a world where dragons are exiled to reservations and face the death penalty if caught in a human settlement.

When a half-dragon warrior demands my help to find a stolen dragon's egg, I realize I can't hide anymore. Now, the fate of a helpless dragon hatchling lies in my hands. I have to save her...even if it means confronting dangerous enemies and risking my secret.

Absolutely Loved This Story!!

This is a perfect series for all lovers of dragon sagas and is one that I highly recommend. The plot line is an intriguing action-packed adventure that includes a ton of surprises that you absolutely won’t see coming. I found myself not wanting to stop listening because I absolutely had to find out what would happen next. I totally fell in love with the main the dragon hybrid characters and especially the “supporting” vampire character in the story. I also enjoyed both of the narrator’s narration—they totally brought this story to life. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fabulous Dragon Series

This was my first experience with Marissa Brandt's work, and I enjoyed it a lot. This complete series was great and I'm glad that I was able to listen to it as one omnibus. This compilation began with the prequel story titled, "Dragon's Blood" and it was great. This short story was narrated by Michael Kirby, and his narration was pleasant. It continued with the next three books in the series and each book was exciting and fun. The world building was complex. The characters were complicated and clever. Each story followed the one before. There were many exciting moments and intense twists and turns. I recommend this series to others who enjoy this genre. Sarah Beth Goer's narration was good. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Unique story and excellent delivery

I love the unique urban take on a dragons and magic kind of story. The story is well written with vivid details, and the voice over delivery was stunning. Easily conveyed the projected emotions of the character. Would easily be an amazing movie or tv series!

Overall a decent book. The characters and story were good. But I wouldn’t say I loved it.

I absolutely LOVED this series!! A new and different direction in the paranormal. Completely believable and captivating characters who you just fall in love with, dealing with problems that people, both real and fictional, face everyday. Great urban fantasy series

This was a exciting and captivating urban fantasy trilogy with an added prequel bonus story. The stories include what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, sweet moments, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil actors, henchmen, political machinations, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, plot twists, and laughs. All the books include witty dialogue, characters with depth who grow and an engaging storyline. The stories follow each other in quick succession and flow seamlessly into each other spanning a 6 month time period. Sarah Beth Goer did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. Overall it’s 4.5 stars

Dragon’s Blood

This is a prequel to the Almost a Dragon series. It was a great introduction to the series. There was enough backstory to understand the world mixed with some excitement, danger, and hard choices. Flynn is addicted to the drug Thrall which was forced on him by vampires after his wife and daughter were killed. He takes monthly trips to the Dragon reservation to collect dragons blood for the vampires in order to earn his next hit of Thrall. On this trip he is given a dragon fledgling to give to the vampires which would be a fate worse than death.

The Dragon Thief

In book 1, Izzy is a dragon hybrid who can pass as a human and believes she’s unique. She grew up with a loving human father, Finn, after her clan culled her. She now runs a business findings lost things. Tammuz is also a dragon human hybrid who comes to Izzy for help retrieving a stolen dragon’s egg. While searching for the egg, there are a lot of other parties interested in Izzy and Tam and their search, including vampires, mages, and humans.

Dragon Warrior

Book 2 starts off where the last book left off, Finn has been kidnapped and our small band must try to locate and free him. Izzy is also still the vampire Vashli’s sworn vassal. Izzy and her companions must solve the mystery to locate Finn as well as fight evil actors.

Dragon Queen

In book 3, Isabel Drake continues to grows into her power as the Dragon Queen of the hybrids. She and her fellow dragon hybrid colony mate Tam are helping to raise Clara, a female hybrid hatchling. When the story begins the dragons are changing the rules and demand Clara and Izzy are turned over to the reservation. This is just the start of the human/vampire/dragon/mage fighting and drama in the book. Izzy has to navigate politics, in fighting, dating, and her growing power in order to keep her city, friends and family safe while also trying to track down a kidnapped colony mate.

Author over explains everything throughout each book

The author over explains everything constantly… that was severely irritating… like I’m reading all the books… please stop explaining 10,909 times everything!!! But other than that it was good I guess… interesting story line…
