Publisher's summary

Jake Tyler walked out of Covert Ops two years ago, a devastated, broken man after he discovered his sister brutally murdered by her husband, Riley. Since then he's found a kind of peace running a rural bar. The last thing Jake Tyler expects is his former team to turn up with grim news. Jake's ex-brother-in-law has escaped from prison and is heading Jake's way. The team is here to protect Jake, whether he likes it or not - a decision reluctantly shared by their leader, Jake's ex-lover Mitch Mitchelson.

Mitch is angry and hurting. The man he trusted - the man he adored more than anything - abandoned both his team and Mitch. Jake never gave Mitch a chance to help or come to terms with his desertion. Regardless of mission protocols, Mitch isn't about to open his heart again to that kind of pain.

But the strong attraction between them can't be denied. How are they ever going to work together when Mitch still resents Jake's disappearance, and to Jake, the team represents everything that destroyed him in the first place? And meantime they wait for Riley to find them...and to settle the threat once and for all.

Good storyline, nice plots. But could had a bit more character building and depth.
Enjoyable narration.

It’s a nope for me..

I really want to like this book. I listened to the whole thing. But it just didn’t click for me.

First, I do not like the main MC, Jake or JT. He’s a selfish whiny narrow-minded guy. Then his team comes to find him to protect him from the guy, who happens to be their teammate and his best friend, allegedly killed his sister. And how does JT react? Like an ungrateful little turd.

He is so lucky he gets the breaks. His ex forgives him and takes him back. the team that he abandoned forgave him and all is well. Plus, the best friend who he sent to prison forgave his narrow minded a$$.

Mitch is a Saint.

The covert team is just a bunch of shredded BAMF locked in Jake’s bar waiting for the big showdown with Riley.

There was just a lot of disconnect with this book. The best thing about it? Greg Boudreaux, he’s the reason why I stuck to it and listen till the very end.

Gripping and engaging!

Jake retired from the covert ops after his sister was savagely murdered by her husband. Now his ex brother in law had escape prison and is on the loose.
He is now in close quarters with his ex Mitch who he abandoned years ago.
Can Jake and Mitch work together to track down Riley? Can they rekindle the flame of their relationship?

This was such a great start to the series!
I loved the action and mayhem! The storyline was gripping and compelling.
Greg Boudreaux's narration was absolutely perfect for this one.

Wow! Wasn't expecting a hit!

If you could sum up Alpha Barman in three words, what would they be?

Action, Adventure, Love

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jake left his covert unit after the death of his sister by his best friend, brother in law, and team mate. You know this from the beginning. Then the team arrives to watch over Jake after Riley escapes custody. Let the fun begin. I loved Jake. He is a character that your heart just breaks for. However Mitch is it for me. Hot Alpha male who had his heart broken when Jake left without a word. Mitch is bossy, dominant, and pissed off. Perfect combination to put these two together with.

What does Greg Boudreaux bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Perfect voices! I couldn't have picked a better narrator. Mitch just makes me shiver.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I couldn't stop listening! I listen when I'm driving or if I have a mundane task at work. I skipped over my tv shows last night. I didn't want the book to end! The plot twists and turns were perfect and even until the last chapter the unexpected happen!

Any additional comments?

I look forward to the next book. This isn't an auto buy author from me. If I come across a book of hers that I like I might buy it. This book sat in my wishlist for awhile. The blurb does not do it justice. I would auto buy this entire series. The secondary characters are just as awesome!

Hot

Great start to a series, please bring on book #2. Good storyline, keeps you into the book. Nothing better than a group of tuff guys and some wowing sex scenes. As always an outstanding job of narrating by Greg Boudreaux, I Love his voice and the way he brings characters to life. Worth the credit and your time to listen 🌟⭐🌟⭐🌟 this was actually my second time listening to this book.

GREAT START! Book 2, Where RU?!🙂

This was a great start to the beginning of book 1. I really liked and enjoyed listening to it. The storyline was well defined. I loved the brotherhood, love, loyalty, Mitch, Jake, the whole team had for one another. They worked well together. I think GB is one of the best narrator out here. I have listened to many books he's narrated, and as always he gives and brings each character life. SB did a wonderful job in writing this story. she's has a talent. If your looking for a good book to listen to, I recommend you start here. I'm now waiting for book 2. I hope it becomes available on adubile soon!🤞

entertaining premise for the start of the series

Any additional comments?

it wasn't able to deliver the hot-covert-ops action like I had hoped. The covert ops group basically sat around the bar, holed up protecting Jake from an escaped felon, and gossiped about their love lives. At about 50% my hope was for some hot-and-steamy make-up sex, but it was unremarkable and a little awkward. There is one more sex scene, but it didn't bring the heat.
Didnt like Jake character at all !!
The main plot of the story, which is Jake's sister being murdered by her own husband, Riley, who happened to be Jake's best friend is plainly unbelievable. Why would a bunch of so-called 'brothers' not believing Riley is the biggest mystery of all.
