About this listen

Financial planner Luke Reynolds has his sights on a new client, but just when he's finally secured a golf meeting with the eccentric billionaire, he's told he must win the game against some upstart competitor named Ken. Unfortunately, Ken is a beautiful woman. And she beats him. Things are about to get down and dirty.

Kennedy Ward's ambition is fueled by her father's medical bills and supporting her four younger siblings. So when billionaire family man Bentley Williams assumes the bickering between her and Luke is because they're a couple, Ken assures him they're happily engaged. Next thing you know, they're invited to a weekend at his estate.

Only one of them will win this game.

And one of them will lose their heart.

Great Book!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. He did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Sexy and heartwarming!

Would you consider the audio edition of An Ambitious Engagement to be better than the print version?

Yes! I absolutely adore the talented team of Kylie Gilmore and Charles Lawrence and the difference between audio book and written book are like the difference between night and day. The characters are more vibrant and I have to admit that the sex scenes are especially intense when narrated by Charles Lawrence's swoon-worthy voice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Luke is my favorite character, by far. His nurturing nature and his concern for Kennedy's family situation left a heartwarming glow in my heart and his passion for Kennedy made my heart race.

What about Charles Lawrence’s performance did you like?

I love everything about Charles Lawrence's narration. He makes the story come alive and I have to admit that the timbre of his voice during those sexy-hot love scenes makes me melt! Every. Single. Time. He's my absolute favorite audio book
narrator.

If you could take any character from An Ambitious Engagement out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Of course it would be Luke and Kennedy I would take to Sunday dinner at the Marino family home so that I could meet all the wonderfully entertaining characters in this series that I love so much.

Any additional comments?

I hope this series never ends!

Fake Engagement, Real Love

Any additional comments?

Luke and Kennedy are competing for the same client, billionaire Bentley Williams. When Luke and Kennedy meet for the first time Kennedy says that her and Luke are engaged. Now Luke has to follow along. The two of them have such chemistry together that you will be turning the pages to find out what happens next. I would recommend this book.

Another Winner!

Kylie Gilmore gives us another wonderful story, yet again! This is a laugh out loud, entertaining story that kept my interest from start to finish. I loved both Luke and Kennedy and they made a perfect couple; both were ambitious yet caring and dedicated to family. My heart went out to Kennedy’s circumstances, however the way she handled it was admirable. Luke was tough on the outside but a caring and honorable man on the inside. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the next one in the series. Per usual, Charles Lawrence was amazing.

Loved this audiobook.

Would you listen to An Ambitious Engagement again? Why?

Yes. I loved the interaction not only between Kennedy and Luke, but their relationships and loyalty for their families.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many scenes I enjoyed, but the scenes with their individual families showed their love for them.

Any additional comments?

I loved, loved, loved this audiobook. Did I say , I LOVED IT!!!! When I think the last audiobook of the series was the best, in comes Ms Glimore with one that , for me, tops the others.
Once again, with have the Marino/Reynolds family, and their handsome sons. In this one , our main characters are Luke Reynolds, a financial planner, and Kennedy (Ken) Ward, a young woman who is bright, loyal to her family, and though she works in a financial company , really is only an assistant .
Both want to have billionaire Bentley as their client, since he can make or break their careers. Kennedy and Luke are competitive (each for their own reasons) , but that doesn’t stop the chemistry between them to ignite . Kennedy tells Bentley she and Luke are engaged (not true!) . The lies seem to grow and you know trouble is in the horizon.
The sensitivity , family loyalty, and dedication of these two, is obvious. It gets them to do crazy things, but in the long run, that same loyalty, and love of their families and dedication , is what makes for a happy ending. Plus , within the story, we catch up with some of our favorite characters of previous books. So , join me, for another Marino/Reynolds story.

I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Being so Ambitious can be overrated.

What did you love best about An Ambitious Engagement?

I loved how Luke finally won Kennedy over. Their fake engagement definitely brings to pass the ultimate ending of all endings.
I was very emotional off and on throughout the book. I enjoyed all of the laughs and the sad parts equally. Luke and Kennedy are truly suited for each other.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't think I can honestly say whether or not I preferred Luke or Kennedy more. I got equally irritated with them both. Though if I really think about it, I got a little more irritated by some of Kennedy's attitudes than I did of Luke. I had genuine sympathy for Luke several times. Though for both of them I say they dug themselves in deep where Bently and Candy were concerned.

Have you listened to any of Charles Lawrence’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to him through the whole Clover Park series. He does an outstanding job on each book.

If you could rename An Ambitious Engagement, what would you call it?

I think it would be something like this...The Swallowing of One's Pride.

LOL....I wouldn't change it though.

Any additional comments?

I loved reading this book. I hope everyone else who reads it, loves it as much as I did.

So Incredibly Bad

I’ll never understand why authors take the time to write a book then let a terrible narrator perform it. This story wasn’t good in the first place but the narrator took it to a level that made me skip to the last chapter and then not even finish listening to that. Don’t bother with this one. I’d have given it zero stars if I could have.
