About this listen

Lauren Gray escaped her small town so she could do big things. Changing the world has always been her dream, and she’s been busy making that dream come true. But when tragedy strikes, she’s forced to return home, where memories and grief threaten to pull her to pieces.

Jamie Nelson knows Lauren is back in town, but when she sees her in the cemetery where Jamie is the groundskeeper, her heart nearly bursts from her chest. Beautiful, intelligent, and witty, Lauren is everything Jamie has ever wanted. In fact, she’s had a crush on Lauren throughout the years at school. But Lauren was always way outside Jamie’s league.

Jamie is more than willing to be Lauren’s shoulder to cry on, and their connection is what she always hoped it would be. When Lauren discovers Jamie’s hidden talent, she doesn’t understand her lack of ambition. Jamie wishes Lauren could comprehend what it’s like to be happy where you are. When it comes to second chances, there’s an art to figuring out what really matters.

Very good book!

I really liked this book. It realistically demonstrated how to cope with the grief and loss of loosing a loved one. Yet, it also demonstrates how to cope with such a loss. The main characters were developed very well to handle such difficult and complex emotions which resulted in the ever present HEA in the story.

I also liked the narration of the book, it was very well done!

Live on in my heart.

Lauren Grey manages a not for profit business helping people. She had left her small home town as soon as possible. When her twin sister dies she returns for her funeral and settle her estate. Meeting Jamie Nelson in the cemetery unites her with memories long forgotten. A sapphic romance of healing, loving, family and friends. Great story and narration.

Absolutely loved this

Jamie has always had a crush on Lauren. When Lauren returns to the small town where she grew up and Jamie still lives, can they figure out if their different lives will mesh well together?

This book made me really stop and think. It focuses a bit on grief - Lauren is grieving for the recent loss of someone and Jamie knows what it's like to feel that sense of loss. Lauren's recent loss makes Jamie question if it's the right time to ask her on a date. But is there ever a good time for love?

The characters seemed so real and their character growth was well done. It did make me want to cry though, the angst that happens between them - but we do get the lovely HEA so that made me happy :)

It's my first Helena Harte book and won't be my last. It was so well-written and I was really pulled into the story from the first word.
