About this listen
And She Was Never the Same Again is about you. It is about your family and your friends, everyone you've ever met, and all the strangers you have yet to meet. It takes you on a journey of gains and losses that stretch generations, cultures, identities, and decades of time.
It awakens you to the inevitable and makes you look at things most people want to avoid seeing. It explores near-death experiences; medical, individual, and intergenerational trauma; the stigmatized death of a partner; perfectionism; athletics; first loves; and the gaping holes that become permanent fixtures within us when those we love the most die.
You will feel, you will learn, you will grow, and you will never be the same again.

thought provoking
While not for the faint of heart becuase of the details of some of these heartbreaking stories, I love how author Natasha Pryde Trujillo PHD tries to find the good or simply explain how these moments effected the changes in the people of her family tree. Without judgment she analyzes thier responses to life's curveballs, how it effectted their personalities, and relationships with others. Natasha warns reader at the start, "The content of this book can be heavy, and evoke intense emotion at times. So, I want to caution you to be sure to you take care of yourself through the process, as there may part's that are triggering and difficult to sit with."
She has way with words that captivates the reader and I found myself get teary or flinch with emotion as she goes deep into scenarios of different timelines. While I've read memoirs before, this is the first Multigenerational Memoir I've read and I loved it! I felt like I came to know and love the family. It does have a few bad words when family members are experiencing raw emotions which some might find offensive, but I think it made it more real. Over all I found this book encouraging as I saw her family survive horrible situations (some which I've experienced) and still move forward in this thing called life.
I listened to the audiobook and I thought the narrator did amazing capturing personalities and emotions.

A Powerful Reflection on Family, Loss, and Growth
As someone from a half-Hispanic family and a fellow Laramie native, I felt an undeniable connection to this book. The cultural nuances and family dynamics Natasha shared resonated with me, reflecting experiences familiar to my own. While every family’s journey is unique, the themes of love, loss, and transformation felt deeply relatable.
Natasha and her family’s honesty about life’s “dirty details” was both comforting and inspiring, reminding me how hardships shape and strengthen us. This book brought me smiles, tears, and a renewed sense of hope. Thank you, Natasha, for sharing your story.

And She Was Never the Same Again
I have been on a personal journey of hope and healing in my life the last year or so. I am always looking for books that I can read about others' journey and they were able to find their own identity. When I came across And She Was Never the Same Again: A Multigenerational Memoir by Natasha Pryde Trujillo PhD, I was instantly intrigued and wanted to get my hands on it. I instantly was able to find it relatable within the first chapter. I admire the author to be able to share her story. It was interesting to see how so many life events can affect us all. It was a learning experience within myself to try to be more understanding of myself, as well as, those around me. The more I read, the more I felt comforted and at peace with the author's words. I found it inspiring and will be keeping this book handy on my shelf and go back to over and over again in the future.
I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of And She Was Never the Same Again: A Multigenerational Memoir. I enjoyed hearing to Maria McCann's narration and how she was able to bring this book to life. The performance was great.
I am giving And She Was Never the Same Again: A Multigenerational Memoir a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who have experienced grief, loss, tragedy, and life struggles. I no doubt they will find hope and healing they have been seeking.
I received a paperback copy of Natasha Pryde Trujillo PhD's And She Was Never the Same Again: A Multigenerational Memoir from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
