Publisher's summary

Sir Roger Parkes is a man of some influence in the West Country. When he loses touch with his youngest daughter, he has a word with the Assistant Chief Constable of the local force. It's not a police matter, he is told, but if Sir Roger wants to pursue it privately, there is a lady who might be able to help-two of them, actually.

As far as Summer Lane is concerned, she has enough problems without going into the investigations business with her next door neighbor; Mrs. Emily Willows's problems all seem to center around the fact that her neighbor is refusing to go into the investigations business with her. They have reached, it seems, an impasse. Until, that is, Emily notices that someone has left a message on her answering machine . . .

This is Peter Grangers best book yet

His characters are wonderful. His nature descriptions are beautiful. And the plot is outstanding. Enjoy this grand book.

Enjoyable Listening

The story is predictable, I enjoyed the narrator. It was an leasy listen, as I am tired of really graphic mysteries.

Cliff hanger

I think this is the best one in the series so far and I hope there are more to come. The characters are so well developed and seem as if they’re someone you may
Know or meet.

A fun and exciting read.

I hope this book is a preview of more novels that include this expanding cast of characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to exciting conclusion. The narrator and her narration were both superb and flawless.

Enjoyed it so much, listened twice

Great character development. Great characters. Hope there will be more Lane, Nick, Robby and Flynn in the future. Narrator was spot on with accents, even Shelly the American.

Was surprised there were a couple of negative reviews. Will say I had to listen closely to follow the timeline. Lost some elements while walking the dog which is why I enjoyed listening a second time.

Great

Peter Grainger never disappoints! I love the Dc Smith novels best, but now I love these too.
