Delightful. Good story, supposedly for children but much better appreciated by adults, made more enjoyable by an absolutely brilliant narrator. I've listened for two years and dozens of books and I want more narrated by Nathaniel Parker. His accents and dialects, pauses and ironic inflections increased my appreciation of the Artemis Fowl series. Both the author and the narrator need to do more! I have to do the rest of the series on Audible and not in print because of the pleasure I get from the spoken version.

Artemis Fowl (unabridged)

It took me less than a week to spend both of my monthly credits on Artemis Fowl I and II. I'm hooked. The story is fast-paced and clever making it the pure escapist reading that I delight in. I'm not generally a sci-fi or a fantasy reader so Coffer's light-handed approach is really appealing to me.

The narrator's voice is pleasant to listen to and the recording is clear and crisp.

I'm hooked!

This was a great story. Hard to believe it is really a kid's book. Seems thoroughly adult to me. Lots of sly sarcastic jokes. What really made this book great though was the great narrator. He brought all the characters to life and really added to the excitement.

Great narrator, well-written

Where does Artemis Fowl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was the first audiobook I listened to, so I didn't have a baseline. But I have since listened to Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delany. Artemis Fowl is entertaining, but in my opinion, it seems to be a little unbelievable. I know this is fiction, but as a 12 year old, he has a masterful sense of strategy and foresight that no 12 year old would ever have. Not even a boy genius.

What about Nathaniel Parker’s performance did you like?

He did a great job on creating unique voices for the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Not really.

Any additional comments?

The quality of the audio was "tinny" and "noisy". If it would have been clear, I would have rated this title better.

Entertaining read for the family

Took a little nostalgia trip, the narrator does a great job! There are few book series that are more intriguing than the world of Artemis Fowl.

Miss it

The recording itself is my biggest problem with this book. The content is great, the narrator is great; it's just that the recording quality is substandard compared to more recently produced audio books. You get used to it after a bit, but I wish they'd either touch up this recording and re-release it or just record it again with the same narrator. Other than that, it's fantastic.

Amazing book, okay recording.

I read this book as a kid and decided to listen to it on a second go. Evan though my taste have changed in books this was a fun listen and I understand why I was entertained by it as a kid. Creative plot, fairly well written prose, and lovely hidden world we are brought into.

Fun Nostalgia
