About this listen

Step aside, Jason Bourne: David Slaton, the perfect assassin, returns for another adrenaline-packed adventure by USA Today best-selling author Ward Larsen in Assassin's Code.

Former assassin David Slaton discovers a cryptic message: on a memory stick, a photograph of the man who will soon assume command of DGSI, France's elite counterterrorism force. With that country reeling under a wave of ISIS attacks, Zavier Baland will be trusted to make the republic safe again. The problem - Slaton has seen Baland's face before. He is Ali Samir, a terrorist Slaton is certain he killed 15 years earlier. Unable to reconcile this frightening disconnect, he attempts to raise the alarm.

Thousands of miles away, the chief information officer of ISIS tries to keep networks running amid crumbling infrastructure. With the caliphate's very survival at stake, the leadership commits to a last-ditch gambit: France must be attacked on a massive scale, forcing the West into the battle of the Apocalypse.

Slaton keeps a breakneck pace, traveling to Tel Aviv, Paris, and the deserts of Syria. In the end he uncovers a labyrinthine plot - and one that only he can stop.

Beautifully narrated with unusually fine character development. The plot will keep you thinking as the story plays out. My compliments to the author and the narrator. A few minutes ago I purchased 6 more of Ward Larsen's novels after listening to 6 or 7 chapters of "Cutting Edge" which speaks for itself as I paid cash for all but one of the six. Enjoy.

Excellent story and superior performance.

So many twists and turns in this story. One thing about thriller writers they are not afraid of killing off characters you don’t want dead. Be prepared to yell Nnnnoooo! This series has been narrated by three people and all have been really good. Very talented folks who seamlessly switch between characters and accents. This is an author who is new to me and so far I am loving what I have read.

Wow, I am loving this series.

Another solid story by one of the best thriller narrators in a totally underrated series see Coes Kirsanov Larsen for others like it.

Rob Shapiro shines, great story!

Thank God for Ward Larsen's books in this pandemic. I am very happy to have recently discovered these David Slaton books, the quarantining has been difficult and these books have helped to keep me sane. I love both the complexity of the plots and the great storytelling contained in these books, most other thriller writers cannot even come close to Ward Larsen. I am surprised that he is not more widely read, he is in the same ball park as Mark Greaney and Tom Wood. Love this series.

Very Enjoyable

David Slaton missed a shot all those years ago? Impossible! But that's the evidence, and he must investigate. Lots of action all through this from the beginning to the end. I love the character. I love the dense action. What I don't love is that he makes his wife bear the burden of his missions; he makes her decide if he should go or not. She's a doctor sworn to protect life, and he wimps out on these decisions.

The narration is not the best, but it's okay.

high action start to end

Interesting and Entertaining; would recommend but read in sequence of Sloan novels. I would say that I liked it.

Good Read

Mr. Ochlan needs to learn how to properly pronounce words, such as 'davit' and 'caliphate'.

English pronunciations deficient

I'm going to have to get the book if I want to finish this. First time ever that I have stopped listening. This has to be the worst performance ever on Audible. I know The author has to be very disappointed with how this turned out. The accents, the pronunciations, the tones, everything is far below standard.

I can't listen anymore
